We are so lucky to be living alongside Stag Beetles who reside in our ‘Big Garden’.
One of the children found the head of a magnificent male today and whilst he been semi-consumed by one of their predators, the children were fascinated with his pincers and shell.

We have been busy learning all about tropical rainforests this week. As well as discovering that some fabulous animals live there, they have also learnt that it is very hot, humid and rainy!
The children enjoyed completing a simple, but effective experiment this afternoon. The "rain cloud in a jar" demonstrates how clouds hold water until they get too heavy and release it as precipitation. Using a jar of clear water, shaving foam, coloured water and pipettes, the children dropped blue droplets into the ‘cloud’. They watched as the cloud started ‘raining’ when it got too heavy….”Wow, it’s amazing” we heard a little one say!
