Feeling hot, hot,hot! πŸ”₯πŸ₯΅

This week, we have survived the heat wave by playing with water outside, some of our children enjoyed a paddle in the tuff tray!

As the UV has been high, we have been playing inside in the afternoons - we have been busy building with blocks, creating our own small world areas, moulding cupcakes with playdough, reading stories and playing parachute games.

πŸ”” School Time for Leavers πŸ””

Our children have been attending a small group time to get them ready for school, they have been doing listening games, talking about uniform and what they might expect from big school.
We have also been singing the 'Please and thank you' song and talking about manners.

πŸ… Sports Week πŸ…

This week we have been practising for sports day which happened on Friday. Our children worked extremely hard in learning all the races, we are so proud of the achievements they have reached this week.

One of our curriculum goals is to set up an obstacle course - our children have worked as a team to create an ambitious course and we have all enjoyed doing it!

😎 Wow, what a week.......😎

This week we have been surviving the heat with lots of water play, we have completed puzzles in the shade, potion creating, making junk models and we even had a water fight (sorry about the wet clothes and squelchy shoes). Some of the staff went home very wet that day! πŸ˜¬πŸ˜‚

Our children have adapted well to the change in our curriculum. One of the goals, we have been concentrating on, is self care. We have stations (like in the picture) to help guide our children - they are doing really well.

β˜€οΈπŸ«  I'm literally melting.......πŸ« β˜€οΈ

This week at pre school, your children have been playing in the garden, enjoying the sunshine and all the water play!

They have been washing babies, creating potions, using water spray bottles, popping bubbles and fishing for magnetic letters.

They have also really enjoyed junk modelling, please do keep bringing in your recycling!

🚁 We have been counting helicopters this week as they have been flying over on the way to Ascot Racecourse, there have been so many, in fact, on Thursday morning, we counted 24! 🚁

β˜€οΈπŸŽ‰ Welcome to the weekend!πŸŽ‰β˜€οΈ

This week at pre school, your children have enjoyed playing with our new resources.

In the garden, they have been busy creating their own potions. They have been pouring coloured water into pots and bottles.
They have added lots of glitter, using sticks to stir it in.
And, have been practising our fine motor skills, by using pippettes.
We have also been discovering what scales are, how we use them and why they don't always balance!

β˜€οΈ Welcome back to the Summer Term β˜€οΈ

Or so we thought! πŸŒ§β›ˆοΈβ˜”οΈ

This week at pre school, we have had a shake up of our curriculum and although your child's learning and development will stay the same, we will no longer have themes.

Thanks to one of our practitioners visiting the beach in half term, your children have experienced what seaweed feels like, what it smells like and where we might find it. We made our own mini beach in the tuff tray outside, complete with sandcastles and shells.

πŸ₯”πŸ₯•πŸŒ± Planting and Growing 🌱πŸ₯•πŸ₯”

This week, we have been learning about where our food comes from. Some vegetables that we eat actually grow underground and from a tiny seed.

In the garden, the children have been digging up potatoes and carrots.
They have been digging for worms (noodles)!
And creating their own cress pot. We hope you all enjoy eating it!

Next week, is half term πŸ₯³. When we return, our theme will be 'Seaside'!

🐸 Lifecycles 🐸

This week, we have been learning about a frog lifecycle.

We have been practising sequencing, scissor skills and drawing our own lifecycles.
We have created a bubbly mixture to resemble frog spawn. Using straws to blow bubbles.
We have also played with chia seed gloop, which actually looked like frog spawn! We put our ducks in and watched them 'swim'.

We have played with speckled frogs whilst singing all about them.

Next week, our theme is 'Planting and growing'.
Words of the week: Cress/Garden, colourful/bloom, watering/planting.

Our focus is growth, whether that be something we have planted or just ourselves!

πŸ¦‹ Transformation πŸ¦‹

This week, your children have been understanding what transformation actually means. We have been exploring different materials and changing the way they look.

We have been discovering what happens when you mix cornflour and water.
"Oooo, it's sticky", "oh, it's hard", "look how it runs through my fingers", "I don't like it".

We have been practising our fine motor skills, by using pippettes and warm water to melt ice (sorry no photos of the ice, the children were too quick to melt them!)
We have also mixed sand and shaving foam to make our own cement, we have mixed paints (mostly brown!) and have made playdough. The children were given a choice of colour for the playdough and chose orange.

On Friday, we started to talk to all our school leavers about what to expect when they go to 'big' school. We have talked about what they might wear, meeting a new teacher, playing in a new playground and ultimately meeting some new friends.
We also discussed, that we have to sit nicely, sometimes we are asked to be quiet and listen to the teacher.

Next week, we will be looking at 'Lifecycles'.
Words of the week: seed/egg, tiny/wiggly, sprouting/growing.

πŸ”πŸžπŸͺ² Mini beasts and Nature πŸͺ²πŸžπŸ”

"We're going on a bug hunt, we're going to find a big one, what a beautiful day, we're not scared!"

This week, our children have been searching for mini beasts in the garden, we have found worms, spiders, wood louse and we even saw a swarm of bees. 🐝

We have created our own caterpillars, using our fine motor skills to cut strips of paper and stick them together.
We have also made our own handprint butterflies πŸ¦‹
We have looked at what bugs look like, counting legs and discovering where they might live.
We've even rescued one or two!

Next week, we will be looking at 'Transformation'.
Words of the week: change, butterfly, transforming.
