At the end of the Summer term, Reception Apple and Reception Pear were treated to a wonderful educational visit to Odds Farm, where they spent the day exploring the farm and meeting a variety of friendly animals.

The children had the opportunity to see sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, roosters and many other farm animals up close. They especially enjoyed feeding the sheep, petting rabbits, watching the pigs being fed and seeing a cow being milked. One of the highlights of the day was a fun tractor ride around the farm, giving the children the chance to take in even more of the beautiful surroundings.

To round off a memorable visit, the children had lots of fun in the soft play area before heading back to school with plenty of happy memories to share.

Year 6 Delights Audiences with Oliver with a Twist 🎭

Year 6 students wowed audiences with a fantastic performance of Oliver with a Twist, a primary school adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic novel Oliver Twist. 📖

The production was a tremendous success, with students demonstrating remarkable confidence, commitment and talent throughout. From learning and delivering their lines with expression to bringing the characters to life through engaging performances, the cast surpassed expectations at every turn. The musical numbers were performed beautifully, with several outstanding solo singing and acting performances that captivated the audience. 👏

The show was polished, entertaining and a real joy to watch, reflecting the hard work and dedication of everyone involved. Parents, families and staff were treated to a memorable evening that celebrated not only the students’ talents but also the teamwork and perseverance that went into preparing such an impressive production.

A huge thank you goes to Mrs Kalu and Miss Vella, whose commitment, encouragement and countless hours of preparation made the performance such a resounding success. Congratulations to all of our Year 6 students on a truly outstanding achievement.

⛳⚽ Foot Golf Fun for Years 5 & 6!

Nine students from Years 5 and 6 recently enjoyed an exciting Foot Golf Activity Day at Braywick Leisure Centre.

The day began with a series of fun skills challenges designed to develop football accuracy, control and passing. Students tested their precision by stopping the ball between cones, chipping into target areas, aiming for goals and hitting designated targets.

In the second half of the day, students put their new skills into practice with a round of foot golf. Working in small groups, the challenge was to complete each hole by reaching the flag in as few kicks as possible.

Our students represented Grove Academy brilliantly throughout the day. They showed fantastic behaviour, encouraged one another, demonstrated great sportsmanship and embraced every challenge with enthusiasm. It was wonderful to see them developing their confidence, teamwork and football skills while having so much fun.

A huge thank you to Mr Taylor for organising the event, and to Miss Jefferson and Mr Singh for accompanying and supporting the students throughout the day.

🌍✨ Celebrating the many cultures that make Grove Academy so special! ✨🌍

Our annual Culture Day was a wonderful celebration of the rich diversity within our school community.

Students across both our Primary and Secondary were invited to wear traditional cultural clothing, creating a spectacular display of colours, styles and traditions from around the world. With families and heritage spanning Europe, Asia, Africa, South America and beyond, it was a fantastic opportunity for everyone to proudly celebrate their culture and learn about others.

Throughout the day, students took part in a wide range of cultural activities. These included learning about South Africa, exploring the Spanish language and the traditions of Día de los Mu***os (Day of the Dead), and enjoying dance sessions inspired by cultures from across the land. These were just some of the many activities that helped broaden our students’ understanding of the world around them.

Culture Day is about far more than traditional dress. It is about celebrating who we are, embracing our differences with curiosity and kindness, and creating a school where every student feels seen, valued and proud of their heritage.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a success. It was a truly memorable celebration of the diversity that makes Grove Academy such a vibrant and welcoming community. 🌎💛

What a fantastic day! 🌞🏃‍♀️🏅

Grove Academy Primary recently travelled to Thames Valley Athletics Centre for our annual Sports Day, and what a memorable occasion it was! With the sun shining and families cheering from the sidelines, our pupils enjoyed a day full of energy, determination and teamwork.

During the morning session, Years 4, 5 and 6 rotated around a range of exciting athletics events, including the javelin, long jump, sack race, obstacle course and 50m, 100m and 200m sprints. Sprint winners returned for thrilling finals to compete for gold, silver and bronze medals, while our longest jumpers and furthest javelin throwers were also crowned champions in each year group.

A special congratulations goes to Kelvin in Year 5, whose outstanding performances made him one of the stars of the day. 👏

In the afternoon, Years 1, 2 and 3 took to the field with just as much enthusiasm, enjoying activities including hurdles, the egg and spoon race, beanbag throwing and ball catching challenges. Every pupil gave their best effort and received a sticker to celebrate their fantastic participation.

A huge thank you to Mr Taylor for organising such an unforgettable day and to all of our staff whose hard work helped make the event such a tremendous success. We would also like to thank all of our parents and families for coming along to support and encourage our students throughout the day.

Most importantly, well done to every single child. Your behaviour was impeccable, your effort was outstanding and your sportsmanship made us all incredibly proud.

What a brilliant day of fun, friendship and sporting achievement! 💙💛

☀️ Jubilee River Safety Reminder ☀️

With temperatures remaining very high this week, Grove Academy has been taking a range of measures to keep our students safe and comfortable, including using cooler learning spaces, adapting routines, and allowing children to wear PE kits where appropriate.

We would also like to remind families about the dangers of the nearby Jubilee River.

While the river may appear calm and inviting during hot weather, it contains strong currents, deep water, sudden drop-offs, and cold-water hazards that can be extremely dangerous. Swimming in the Jubilee River is strongly discouraged, and every year there are serious incidents involving people entering the water.

Sadly, a recent incident in the local area has once again highlighted the risks associated with open water.

We ask all parents and carers to speak with their children about water safety and to remind them:
🚫 Do not enter the Jubilee River or any open water.
🚫 Do not jump, dive, or attempt to swim in the river.
🚫 Never encourage others to take risks around water.
✅ Stay on designated paths and viewing areas.
✅ If someone is in difficulty in the water, call 999 immediately and seek adult help.

As the weather continues, we want all of our students to enjoy the sunshine safely and stay healthy and well.

Thank you for your support in helping us keep our children safe.
