Some time back I built two mirrors for the garden which look really good. However I noticed that some birds spent all day attacking their reflections in the mirrors. So we needed a bird of prey to scare them off. It's now on duty! First location was a bit far from one end so now moved to the middle. Don't know if it will work but great fun. Birds still go to the feeder but its the fat pigeon and the attack t**s I'm after.

Just back from a three week tour with Nikki of the Wild Atlantic Way: the south and west coast of Ireland. Mostly good weather (for Ireland, it didn't rain every day) and some extremely good food. Did a lot, saw a lot, travelled a lot and as it is getting colder here I though a I'd share with you the turf peat fire we had every night in the cottage in Donegal. Lovely!

Ah the sipping of pastis and the crunching of snails and frogs legs - the view from Le Table d'Yves, au pied du village de Fayence, having dinner only last Sunday. Spent a few days with a chum from college in the Var. Lovely weather and probably too much to eat and drink.

After a day to recover from my birthday we went to see if we could catch the Swan Uppers as they went from Shepperton to Staines. They kept up a cracking pace, partly as there are less swans each year, but we finally caught up with them. So here they are in the lock and leaving - lead by the Queens boat then the Vintners and Dyers - before pouncing on a swan and her cygnet who were having a quiet kip on someone's lawn!

Whilst I was at Micklems Farmhouse as part of the Henley Arts Trail this year I was finishing off three window panels. So here they are in situ - looks a bit weird as close up panoramas don't really work.

Back from another expedition so time to get stuck in as I'm exhibiting again this year at Micklems Farmhouse in Knowl Hill which is Venue 19 of the Henley Art Trail (http://www.henleyartstrail.com/) at the end of April.

Some things I learnt in NY. Firstly it is best you have breakfast before walking the Highline - a bit much on and empty tummy I feel. Secondly that if you did rashly piggyback you might well hit your head on the traffic lights which are hung extremely low!
