Proud to support the Clewer and Dedworth Christmas Lights this year.

A year ago we thought it would be fun to put on a community Christmas Fair and maybe raise some money to decorate the local area. Fast forward 12 months and we have raised 1000s of pounds, celebrated with an Easter Fair and put on a 2 day summer music festival for the whole community!

We are so incredibly proud to bring Christmas Lights to Dedworth Road - it’s not been easy (not least because half the lampposts are too old for lights!) but we think Clewer and Dedworth deserves to be lit up.

As well as the incredible fundraising you have done at our events, we must thank our 11 local sponsors who have contributed a little extra to the pot. This has helped us to provide All Saints Church with a tree decorated to match our scheme.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and don’t forget to join us for the switch on during the Christmas Fair at 4:45pm in the Pirate Park on Sunday 27th.

Introducing Esha to the Castle Tutoring team

Esha recently completed her A-Levels in Chemistry, Biology and Psychology at Upton Court Grammar School, and is now going to study Dentistry at Cardiff University.

Having gone through the Medicinal process of applying to university, she is able to tutor and mentor others hoping to study within this avenue including; UCAT examinations; MMI and panel based interviews. Esha achieved 8s and 9s in her Maths, English and Triple Sciences GCSE's making her more than capable to deliver engaging lessons.

In addition to this, she is able to tutor 11+ as well as KS2 and below. Esha understands the pressure on children in today's society and therefore caters to create a fun learning environment. Esha hopes to inspire others to learn and give them the tools in order to build a better future.

Being a small tutoring firm in the current climate is really frustrating, it seems the Department for Education (DfE) are more interested in protecting 'shell firms' who outsource their tutoring rather than those like Castle Tutoring who have developed preferred supplier status with schools who know and trust that we are able to unlock the potential of all their wonderful students.

From September, according to the DfE, schools can only use approved tuition partners for school led tutoring. It's like a 'jobs for the boys' situation and totally freezes out those of us who are already successfully supporting the most disadvantaged in schools thanks to our deep rooted connections with and the understanding of the pupils within the schools we work with.

Hopefully we will get the opportunity to apply to join the closed shop that is the National Tutoring Programme soon, in the meantime we will continue to support all schools and students in ensuring they maximise their individual potential.

Introducing Sarah to the Castle Tutoring team

Sarah is our chemistry expert: an experienced tutor, teacher and freelance A Level Chemistry exam specialist for educational websites. After completing a 4 year MSci in Pharmacology in 2016, Sarah started tutoring A Level Chemistry alongside her postgraduate studies. She soon realised that teaching was her calling and commenced a PGCE in Secondary Chemistry at University of Cambridge in 2018, with a scholarship from the prestigious Royal Society of Chemistry. After qualifying, Sarah worked in an "outstanding" 11-16 secondary school in Cambridge, where she was instrumental in the development of their chemistry curriculum, creating lesson resources for the GCSE course as well as gaining some of the best chemistry GCSE results the school had seen. She undertook a Masters in Education to further her teaching and is an award-winning educational researcher. Sarah continued to tutor A Level Chemistry alongside her job, helping many students to be successful in the subject, no matter what exam board, and get the grades required to reach their goals.



Sarah's style is student-centred, allowing studies to take ownership of their learning, whilst taking her time to ensure understanding is concrete. Her students compliment her ability to explain concepts, no matter how difficult. Sarah makes exam technique a big focus; she uses her extensive experience of exam marking and exam question writing to hone students' technique, familiarise them with mark schemes and improve their confidence.



Having delivered personal statement workshops in many schools across the UK and being part of the PSHE and careers team at her school, Sarah also offers personal statement coaching to aspirational individuals that are looking to stand out from the crowd on their university applications.
