On Wednesday 8th July, the Central Hampshire Volunteer Network was joined by the Mayor of Wi******er, Jamie Scott, for our yearly award ceremony to celebrate the recent achievements of their cadet and adult volunteers.
The Mayor has chosen St John Ambulance as his Charity of the Year 2026 and was delighted to present the awards that recognised the hard work that our dedicated youth and adult members have contributed this past year including developing their skills and knowledge. In addition, 2 adult volunteers received a Certificate of Appreciation for going over-and-above in their commitment to St John. The Mayor then took the opportunity to say a few words about what St John means to him and the importance of first aid awareness in the local community.
After the awards had been presented, we were especially pleased to enrol 3 cadets into St John Ambulance who had completed their Welcome Award, and to witness them making their promises to help those in need in the Service of Humanity and to observe our Code of Chivalry.
County Commissioner, Fizz Thompson, reflected on the event:
“It is with great pride that I was able to celebrate the work and service of the volunteers of the Central Hampshire Network. Behind every award and certificate given is a story of training, dedication, and a willingness to step forward when others need help most.
Thank you to everyone who could not attend for the part they play in providing first aid, delivering emergency first aid education and working as part of the St John family.”
Teamwork is at the heart of St John, and bringing the network together every year to celebrate our colleague’s achievements and passion reinforces the bond we have as a team and strengthens our community.
