Great training from the teens!

Loads of effort, plenty of laughs and, most importantly, some really lovely teamwork - helping each other, encouraging each other and making sure everyone gets something from the session.

Martial arts can be particularly beneficial during the teenage years, helping to develop focus, self-discipline, resilience, confidence and problem-solving skills. Research has also linked martial arts participation with benefits that can carry over into learning and academic performance.

But perhaps one of the nicest things is simply having somewhere to belong, switch off from school pressures, be active, have fun and spend time with a good group of people.

That’s exactly the atmosphere I want at WSMA. Work hard, learn together, look after each other - and enjoy it. ❤️

There’s room for a few more teenagers to join this lovely bunch and make some new friends. 😊

Lovely training from the Thursday 6pm group.

It’s been great to see the newer members growing in confidence already - learning new skills, getting stuck in and being so well looked after by the more experienced members of the team.

That’s something I really value at Wi******er School of Martial Arts®: everyone trains together, everyone helps one another, and nobody needs to arrive already knowing what they’re doing.

This class still has space. Complete beginners are very welcome. 😊

Tuesday Teens doing a great job with their training - as usual.

Such a good session - loads of effort, plenty of laughs, and some really lovely training to watch.

I love seeing how well they look after one another. More experienced students helping others, partners encouraging each other, and everyone able to work at their own level while still being part of the group.

Martial arts can be particularly valuable during the teenage years. Research has linked martial arts training with benefits including improved self-regulation, concentration, confidence, resilience and emotional wellbeing - and there is also evidence associating participation with better academic outcomes.

When you watch a class, it’s not difficult to see some of the reasons for that. They’re constantly listening, remembering sequences, solving problems, controlling impulses, coping when something doesn’t work first time and learning to persevere.

At WSMA, they get to develop all of that in a friendly, mixed-ability environment where training is challenging, but it’s also great fun. There’s no need to be the strongest, fastest or most confident person in the room - everyone helps everyone else improve.

A really lovely atmosphere from this group. ❤️

And there’s still room for a few more teenagers to come and join them - they’re always keen to welcome some new potential friends. 😊

🥋 Another great night of Family Ju Jitsu on Friday!

A few familiar faces were missing through illness - I hope everyone is feeling much better soon! 💙

Friday’s class is now full, but there is currently space in my Sunday 11:45am Family Ju Jitsu class for anyone who would like to come and give it a try.

One of the things I love about family training at Wi******er School of Martial Arts® is seeing different ages and generations sharing the mats together.

🥋 Train together, learn together
Rather than sitting at the side watching, family members get to learn the same skills, practise together and understand just how much goes into each other’s progress.

🤝 Partners, not supervisors
Adults are there to train too! Everyone gets to develop their own Ju Jitsu while learning how to be a safe, supportive training partner.

💪 Something active you can share
It’s quality time away from screens and everyday distractions, while developing fitness, coordination, confidence and practical martial arts skills.

💙 A genuinely mixed community
Different ages, abilities and experience levels all train alongside one another. More experienced students help newer students, everyone brings something different to the class, and progress is celebrated together.

😊 And most importantly - it’s fun!
There’s plenty of hard work and learning, but also lots of laughter.

My Friday Family class is currently full, but I have space Sundays at 11:45am.

If you fancy doing something a little different together, send me a message and come along for a trial at Wi******er School of Martial Arts®.

Tuesday 5:15pm class in action last week!

I love seeing so much enthusiasm and progress in this class - not just in the skills and techniques they’re developing, but in how brilliantly they look after one another.

That care, respect and team spirit is a huge part of what Wi******er School of Martial Arts® is all about.

And there’s currently room in this class for a few more students - they’d love to welcome some new potential friends! 😊

Why train at Wi******er School of Martial Arts®?

🥋 Confidence & resilience
Learning practical Ju Jitsu skills while developing confidence, focus, perseverance and the ability to keep trying when something is difficult.

🤝 A safe, supportive environment
Students learn to train hard while understanding that looking after their training partners always comes first. Everyone develops at their own pace in a friendly, non-judgemental environment.

💪 Fitness, coordination & discipline
Active, varied sessions help develop agility, strength, coordination and concentration - while keeping training challenging and fun.

💙 Community & friendships
Students train with different partners, help one another learn and celebrate each other’s progress. Those friendships and social skills are every bit as important as the martial arts.

👉 Tuesday 5:15pm currently has spaces.

If your child would like to give Ju Jitsu a try, send me a message to arrange a trial in the class - or tag a friend whose child might enjoy joining them!

FREE trial! FREE uniform! Sign up today and save!

There’s nothing wrong with a good offer, I use an introductory incentive myself.

But when you’re choosing somewhere you or your child might train for years, should the freebie really be what makes the decision?

I’ve written a new blog about what I think a martial arts trial should actually tell you.

At Wi******er School of Martial Arts® you trial the real class you would join, alongside the students you would actually train with, and you’re taught by me - the person who will continue teaching you if you join.

There’s no separate “trial class” or one-to-one sales assessment.

And even when someone finishes their trial and tells me, “Yes, I definitely want to join”…

I send them home. 😂

No forms at the side of the mat. No Direct Debit to set up before leaving. No salesperson trying to close the deal.

The same principle continues after joining. There’s no paid “Black Belt Club”, elite membership or special track to buy your way into. Every student has the same opportunity to progress.

Don’t let the free offer choose for you. Choose the training.
