FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN

That’s the number one barrier to coming to my Clubbercise sessions.

People often tell me they’ve been thinking about coming for ages. They might even book on… then talk themselves out of it.

Pretend to be sick.
Sit in the car debating whether to go in.
Walk around the school completely lost but not ask for directions because, at that point, sneaking home feels like the easier option. 😂

I get it. Walking into somewhere new, on your own, when you have absolutely no idea what to expect can feel daunting.

But once you get over that first barrier…

You’ll be greeted by friendly faces.
Low lights. Loud music. Glowsticks. ✨

A room full of people moving to the same rhythm, but each with their own take on the moves.

Nobody watching you. Nobody judging you. Nobody expecting perfection.

Just 45 minutes to escape reality, shake off some tension and stress, and lose yourself in the music and the vibes.

The hardest bit might just be walking through the door. 💜

If you've been following my posts for a while, but haven't quite plucked up the courage to come to Clubbercise...

Over the last few weeks I've had lots of new clubbers (7 across 2 sessions last night) and I've been asking how they found me.

The answer is usually Facebook, sometimes an ad, sometimes a post on a community group like this one. But often I hear the same words 'I've been seeing your classes for ages but haven't got round to booking'.

And when I recently asked the wider community what are your main barriers to Clubbercise, it was the fear of the unknown.

So let me take some of that away..

You don't need to be fit
You don't need to know any routines
You don't really need to be coordinated (especially for Glow and Tone - my hybrid Clubbercise Sculpt & Pilates)
You definitely don't need to get everything right
And you will be welcomed.

My job is to make sure you are safe, and have a bloody good session. Beyond that I really don't care if you go the wrong way. I 💯 will too at some point.

I know that getting yourself out of the house in the evening can take a lot of energy and mindset shift. And for parents, a lot more organisation than it should.

But once you're there? Lights down, music up, glowsticks on.

If you are ready to try Clubbercise or Glow & Tone, let me know if you have any other concerns or doubts and see you at Toynbee Dance studio or the main hall at Westgate soon hopefully! 🤞 — in Chandler's Ford.

I would love is to start a conversation with local people about community fitness classes.

I teach at The Village, Everyone Active, Places and David Lloyd during the day, so I know how popular classes like Legs, Bums & Tums, Pilates and other group fitness classes can be — some are regularly full or waitlisted.

But getting people through the door of an independent community class can be a completely different story.

So I’m genuinely curious. Which one sounds most like you?

🤔 I keep thinking about trying a class, but haven’t actually done it yet

😬 I’d like to come, but walking into a new class on my own puts me off

🙋‍♀️ I already go to a community fitness class and love it

💃 I’ve tried Clubbercise before

🫣 I used to exercise/go to classes, but I’ve completely fallen out of the habit

🏋️‍♀️ I prefer gym classes because they’re included in my membership

👀 I’ve seen your posts/ads, Sarah — I just haven’t been tempted enough to book!

❓ I’d consider it, but I need to know more first

And that last one is particularly useful to me. What would you actually want to know before trying a new class?

Is it the price? Fitness level? What happens when you arrive? Whether everyone already knows each other? Whether you’ll be able to keep up? What the class is actually like? Or have my adverts simply not explained it properly?

You can be completely honest — I’m not going to jump into your replies shouting “BOOK NOW!” 😂

I’d much rather understand what local people actually want from community fitness than keep guessing and throwing adverts at you.

So… what stops you taking that first step? 👇
