Is your baby a changing time wriggler? Does your toddler get impatient waiting in the high chair? Is it always a fight to get in the buggy?

Why not gather a few toys in a bag to prompt a song...

Your little one can feel like they have control over something as they choose, and it can be a great distraction.

In comments is a pic of the sort of bag I made for my babies for nappy changing time (notice that everything is wipe-clean, just in case 😆). It gave them something to hold and when they were slightly older, they would think carefully about which song they wanted us to sing.

Which songs help you get through tricky moments?

The power of a pause!

S I L E N C E. We’re not scared of it in our Sing and Sign classes.
It’s a fun way to help your baby or toddler develop good listening skills. Try pausing in a song or game before something exciting happens. Some of our favourites are:

🎶 ‘Where is the noise?’ and ‘Can you play peekaboo?’ 🙈 for even the smallest babies

👂 ‘Old MacDonald’ and ‘Looking through the window’ are great for listening out for fun animal and vehicle noises

👣 ’Walk and stop’ is fantastic for energetic toddlers!

..and of course, listening out for Jessie Cat during a game of peekaboo! 🐾

Being told to stay home with children of any age can be trying. Whether you are home schooling or managing younger ones You've got this! Your small children don't really know how very unusual these times are and will adjust more easily than we do!

Today is 'National Hug' day!

We are all missing hugs with friends and family at the moment, whilst we stay at home. Who have you hugged today? Who are you looking forward to hugging?

Hugs are so special. We've just experienced the most epic of meltdowns with our son, who is two and a half. Meal times are a real struggle at the moment. He doesn't want to eat anything. He only wanted to leave the table and watch TV. So we finished dinner then started bedtime. He screamed and cried and threw things and cried some more. So we waited for him to calm down, then we hugged and hugged and hugged! He's all better now after hugging, a bedtime story and our Sing and Sign lullaby.

It made me appreciate hugging today. Sending hugs to you all!
