The Westgate School, Winchester

In the last year, pupils from The Westgate School have given 2561 hours of their time volunteering in the community as part of the Duke of Edinburgh Award programme. Activities have included helping pupils in the Primary Phase with their reading, working in the kitchen at The Beacon homeless charity and marshalling runners at Wi******er Park Run. We're incredibly proud of our young people who represent the school in the wider community and demonstrate the School's values.

Athletics News: Year 9 Bo H was our only competitor in the Hampshire Schools pentathlon championships: 5 athletics events in 1 day. And what a competitor. Bo was in 2nd place overall going into the last event, the 800M. She ran an awesome race, overhauling the 1st place runner to win the county championship! Not only that, she scored 2890 points, which unofficially puts her as the UK no 1 ranked under 16 for 2026! Well done Bo!

It was an exciting day as our first ever golf team took on Perrins school in a 9 hole 4BBB match at the superb Alresford Golf Course in glorious sunshine. Westgate finished in second place however, it was a brilliant afternoon for our trailblazers who have more fixtures over the Summer term to look forward to - including the return fixture against Perrins on home turf! Highlights included Tom M shooting 2 over, Ollie B shooting 3 over, and Jack S shooting 4 over. Well done to all!

On Monday this week, Westgate Year 9&10 girls football team were invited to play at the Chelsea FC training centre in Cobham, having won the local Sparsholt college tournament. It was an opportunity to see the amazing facilities and showcase their skills in front of Chelsea coaches. Every player performed really well, coming away with an 8-1 win! It was a great opportunity for all the girls. ⚽

Food Pantry Collection:
With your generosity and help, the Charity Group would like to collect tinned food, dried food and non-perishable goods which will then be sent to the Food Pantry at the Carroll Centre, in Stanmore. This will be a real opportunity to make a difference to people who are struggling with the rise in the cost of living at the moment. Please do not send perishable items or pasta (they have loads of pasta!)
