🎒📚 School Readiness Through Play 📚🎒

Our role play area has had an exciting transformation and is now a school classroom! 🏫

The children have been exploring school routines through imaginative play, dressing up in school uniforms, taking turns being teachers and pupils, and practising skills that will help them as they prepare for their next big adventure.

Role play is a fantastic way to support school readiness, helping children to develop confidence, independence, communication skills, and an understanding of what school life might be like. Through play, children can ask questions, share their thoughts and feelings, and become familiar with everyday school experiences in a fun and relaxed environment.

We have loved seeing the children enthusiastically putting on their uniforms, registering their friends, reading stories, and leading their own classroom activities! 😊

These experiences help to build positive attitudes towards starting school and support a smooth transition into Reception.

🦖🌿Dinosaurs🌿🦕

This week we celebrated 'World Dinosaur Day' with lots of creative and hands-on learning! The children used dinosaur stencils and a variety of colours to design and create their own unique dinosaurs, exploring their creativity and developing their fine motor skills.

We enjoyed a dinosaur-themed tuff tray where the children explored different dinosaur habitats, engaged in imaginative small-world play, and shared their knowledge about dinosaurs with their friends.

To add to the fun, the children took part in a Dino Wash tuff tray activity, carefully washing muddy dinosaurs. This sensory experience promoted curiosity and problem-solving.

Bees 🐝

This week to celebrate 'World Bee Day' we had great fun learning all about bees and why they are so important.

We learnt that although bees are small they play a huge role in keeping us healthy and balancing our environment 🌍

We had fun reading bee stories, learning facts about bees and printing beehives.

Did you know that honeybees can recognise human faces

Today our preschool children explored music and rhythm using a variety of musical instruments 🎶🥁🎺

The children enjoyed shaking, tapping, banging and listening to the different sounds they could create. They explored loud and quiet noises, fast and slow beats, and worked together to make their own music as a group.

Music activities like these help to build confidence, communication skills, listening and coordination while encouraging creativity and self-expression.

This activity links to
✨ Expressive Arts and Design – exploring sounds, music and imaginative play
✨ Communication and Language – listening, attention and speaking
✨ Physical Development – developing hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills

It was wonderful to see the children so engaged, curious and full of excitement during today’s musical fun! 🎵

Mental Health Awareness Week

This week for Mental Health Awareness Week, we have been focusing on the importance of looking after ourselves 💚

We took part in relaxing yoga sessions, created our own “Cups of Positivity” filled with kind words and uplifting messages, and spent time talking openly about our feelings and emotions.

It has been wonderful to see everyone supporting one another, sharing positivity, and learning that it’s okay to talk about how we feel.

The children enjoyed a fun and creative stamping and printing activity! 🎨🖐️ The children explored different colours, shapes, and patterns while experimenting with colour mixing to create new shades and designs.

This activity encourages creativity and self-expression through art and design, whilst also developing fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and communication as the children talked about the colours and patterns they discovered.

It was wonderful to see their curiosity, imagination, and confidence grow through hands-on learning and exploration! 🌈✨

This week at garden club, the children got hands-on repotting our violas and tomato plants into our new planters 🌱

They’ve loved watching them grow from seedlings and have been taking such good care of them, making sure they’re watered every day to help them thrive.

Do you grow any fruits, vegetables, or flowers at home? We’d love to hear all about it in the comments below 🌼🍅

15 and 30 hours support - Best Start in Life 06/05/2026

Did you know there is funding available for children of working families from the term after they turn just 9 months old?

We’ve recently had a number of enquiries from parents of 2-year-olds who weren’t aware they may already be eligible—so we wanted to help spread the word!

This funding can make a big difference to childcare costs, and it’s definitely worth checking what you might be entitled to.

Baking club 👨‍🍳

This week at preschool, we had so much fun baking cupcakes together! 🧁 The children loved getting hands-on mixing ingredients, pouring batter, and waiting very patiently as their cakes cooked in the oven.

Baking is not only exciting but also full of learning opportunities. It helps develop fine motor skills, encourages teamwork, and introduces early maths concepts like measuring and counting.

Of course, the best part was taking the delicious cupcakes home at the end! 😊

Drawing in the sunshine ✏️☀️

The children enjoyed some observational drawing whilst enjoying the sunshine in the garden.

They took their time to really look closely at the flowers, leaves, and natural textures around them. We talked about shapes, patterns, colours, and the tiny details we might not always notice like the lines on a leaf.

It was wonderful to see such focus, creativity, and curiosity as the children expressed what they could see in their own unique ways.

Outdoor learning like this not only supports fine motor skills and early drawing development, but also encourages language, and a love of the natural world.

A lovely, calm morning of learning, creating, and enjoying nature 🌿🌼
