What an amazing turnout this morning for our Community Grounds Day! 🌿☀️

It was wonderful to see so many families giving up their time to help make a difference to our school! We were delighted to welcome back former pupils from Year 7, members of our local community, and even our new Reverend, who all joined us in rolling up their sleeves and getting stuck in.

Thanks to everyone's hard work and the many trips to the tip.... we achieved so much, and the school grounds are looking fantastic for our children to enjoy!

A huge thank you to everyone who came along - it really means a lot!

This week, Art Club created some vibrant self portraits using bold colours and black outlines. They began with decorating their paper with a colourful series of marks before using mirrors to draw their faces on top.

This week in Music, the children used Chrome Music Lab to create their own pieces of music. They experimented with repeated patterns and loops, exploring how different sounds could be combined to create something original. There were some impressive creations and plenty of enthusiastic experimenting — perhaps we have some future DJs in the making!

We have relaunched and rebranded our Volunteer Days!

This year, I would like to introduce Community Grounds Days. These will be held termly, and will help us keep the site and grounds looking great for the children. As you know, we don't have a caretaker, so your support really matters. The updated Grounds Day poster and this term's 'Job list' is below, so please take a look, share with friends and families, and if possible, come and support us! Thank you for your support!

I am proud to announce that our Sports Leaders & School Council Representatives for 2026-27 have been voted for and announced today. After applying for these roles, these children will now help represent the school in many ways over the coming year and we are all looking forward to working alongside them.

This week in RE, the children in Foxes have explored the idea of belonging. They discussed the different groups we belong to and the emotions that can come with feeling included. They also thought about how we can help everyone at Itchen Abbas feel that they belong. The children in Year 6 particularly enjoyed meeting their new Year R buddies, helping them feel welcome and giving them someone in school to look out for them.

This week has been our first full week back in school and the children have all been working so hard already! Mr Barraclough and I went on a Learning Walk on Tuesday, and in all classes, children were demonstrating our values and working really hard. This afternoon, the children got to work in their house teams, learning about our focus value for this half term - Respect.

It is great to have them back! I hope everyone has a great weekend! Mr Bogan

With the very warm weather forecast for this week, I wanted to let you know about some adjustments we will be making to ensure that all children remain safe, comfortable and able to enjoy their learning.

We will be adapting our outdoor learning lessons to include more shaded and water-based activities, helping children to stay cool whilst continuing to enjoy outdoor learning. We are fortunate to have our four house coloured gazebos, which will provide additional shade throughout the day for all children.

In addition, instead of Outdoor Learning clothes or school uniform, please send your child to school in their PE kit each day this week, as this will be much cooler and more comfortable than their usual uniform. (Friday remains non-uniform day.)

To help keep everyone safe in the heat, please ensure that your child:

• Arrives at school with sun cream already applied before the start of the day.
• Brings a named sun hat.
• Brings a named water bottle containing plenty of water.

Children will have regular opportunities to drink water throughout the day and access shaded areas as needed.
