🌾🍂 Harvest at Tops 🍂🌾

Harvest is a special time to pause and give thanks for the food we have, the work of those who grow it, and the blessings we so often take for granted.

We also use this time to help our children understand the importance of sharing, caring for others and showing kindness. ❤️ From a young age, we encourage children to appreciate what they have and to understand that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference.
It’s also a time to share what we have with others, remembering those in our community who may be struggling or going without. ❤️

We’re grateful for the generosity of everyone who has brought donations and helped us celebrate this special occasion.

"Will my child be ready for school?”
It's a question so many parents ask. And it's completely understandable.💚

But school readiness isn't about having a child who can already do everything independently. It's about helping them gradually develop the skills and confidence they'll need for their new environment.

Talking positively about school, visiting when possible, practicing little routines and encouraging independence at home can all help, and remember... every child develops at their own pace. 🌱

Come on our annual Tops litter pick with us 💚🚯🗑️✨

Last Friday so many of our nurseries across the south headed to areas close to them for our big Tops litter pick💚

Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do at Tops, from growing our own herbs and fruit and vegetables, reducing our single-use plastics, planting trees and more, our children are encouraged to discover how their choices can have positive impacts.

Starting school is a big step, but there are lots of little steps that can help children feel ready. 💛
At Tops, we support children through this transition by building familiarity, confidence and independence through everyday experiences and positive conversations.

👕 Encourage independence
Let them have a go at dressing, putting on their coat and looking after their belongings.

💬 Build communication
Talk, listen, read stories together and encourage your child to express their thoughts and feelings.

👫 Practice social skills
Playing with others helps children learn to share, cooperate, listen and navigate friendships.

🎒 Make school familiar
Talk about what school might be like, visit where possible and explore new routines together.

❤️ Build emotional confidence
Talk positively about school and help your child understand that it's okay to feel excited, nervous, or both!

🌱 Remember, readiness takes time
School readiness isn't a checklist. It's a journey of building confidence, independence, curiosity and resilience.

It’s Recycle Week! ♻️🌍

At Tops Day Nurseries, recycling is just one part of a much bigger commitment to creating a more sustainable future for the children in our care.

We’re proud to be Plastic Free Champions, actively working to reduce our reliance on single-use plastics and find more sustainable alternatives wherever we can. From reusable wet bags and nappies, to homemade wipes, bamboo toothbrushes and natural resources for play, we’re constantly looking at ways to reduce waste and rethink what we use.

Our nurseries are also working towards Zero Waste to Landfill, while our sustainability commitment includes remaining carbon neutral for Scope 1 & 2, with an aspiration to address Scope 3 too.

But perhaps most importantly, we're helping children understand that small actions matter.

Because when children learn to reuse, reduce and recycle from an early age, those habits can stay with them for life. 💚

This Recycle Week, let's all think before we throw, recycle where we can and choose reusable wherever possible.

We had such a lovely time on Friday representing Tops Poole & Parkstone on our pop-up stand in the Dolphin Centre in Poole! 💙

It was wonderful to meet parents and families from across BCP and even further afield, have some lovely conversations and share a little bit about life at Tops.

And, of course, our windmills went down a treat with the children! The wind was certainly there to help them spin, making it the perfect day for a windmill giveaway!

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by to chat with us. We loved being out in the community and can't wait to do it again soon! 💙

🎉 Celebrating 25 Wonderful Years of Tops Wimborne! 🎉

What an incredible day celebrating 25 years of Tops Wimborne with our children, families, colleagues, and members of the local community!

We were delighted to welcome the Town Crier, whose special announcement made the celebration even more memorable. Families enjoyed looking back through our Wall of Memories, reminiscing about the many children and families who have been part of our nursery over the past quarter of a century.

One of the highlights of the day was creating our time capsule, filled with treasured memories and keepsakes to be opened in the future. Guests also enjoyed delicious drinks and snacks while the children had a fantastic time celebrating this exciting milestone.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us to mark this special occasion. Here's to 25 amazing years of nurturing young minds, building lifelong memories, and being part of the Wimborne community, and to many more years to come! 💚

As the warm weather returns, please make sure your child arrives at nursery each day with:
⭐ A sun hat
⭐ Sun-cream
⭐ Lightweight, weather-appropriate clothing
⭐ Water bottle
To ensure the safety and comfort of all our children during outdoor play, kindly label all items clearly with your child's name.

Given that UV levels are expected to be high, we will adjust our activities throughout the day, incorporating plenty of indoor water play to keep the children cool while still providing fun and enriching play experiences.

Thank you for your cooperation as we strive to keep everyone safe, cool, and happy during this warm weather!

“Moving your child to a nursery attached to a school guarantees them a place there later.”

Choosing a school nursery does not guarantee admission into that school later on. Many parents feel pressure to move nurseries for this reason, but it’s always worth checking the school’s actual admissions criteria first 😊
