History projects can be challenging; we can lighten that load!

I'm still here! Just too distracted to post anything.

In the last few weeks I have been super busy storytelling, workshopping, sewing, painting, battling and familying (real word honest).

The rest of the team are working just as hard making summer 2 the best we can for a whole load of exhausted teachers. It's the push to the end of term and the beginning of 6 weeks of becoming human again.

Rik and Rhi are heading back to the 1940's today, meanwhile I'm heading back 500 years more. Matt however is heading back so far my maths fails me.

Yesterday we were invited to cut and process lime bast with and . We were lucky to have a hands on experience of the whole process. A highly recommended course.

We harvested the bast, bundled it and left it to rett. With some fished from the pond and dried, we made two ply cordage. We crafted thorn tools to make it easier to split and handle. Finally we explored some new historical techniques for making cordage, meaning I can finally make three ply string and Rhi is starting a new weaving techniques journey too. 🧵 🪡

All of this learning is just part of the process of us making our knowledge of materials and historical crafts stronger. The more we learn, the more informed our teaching can be. Plus it was lovely spending the day in a forest with Rhi ❤️

I'm finally getting the hang of this jousting lark. 🐴

Thanks to everyone who came over the weekend, it was great to meet some new folks and catch up with old friends. ⚔️

Ready to get back in the van and deliver a bunch of Viking, Ancient Egyptian and WW2 workshops for the rest of the week. 💪😁👍

I'm passionate about history and storytelling brings me joy. I feel grateful to be able to share both with kids.

Our historical stories receive consistently positive feedback, and it's wonderful to see the impact we have.

The Easter Holiday is here!

What a great term it has been. Crazily busy, beyond exhausting and we have been travelling relentlessly all over the country, however we wouldn't want it any other way. Thanks to everyone who has looked after our workshop leaders, in what can potentially be a really tough term. ❤️

Rhi will still be answering a few emails, however we really want to have some good family time, so please do excuse us if we're a little slower to respond over the next couple of weeks.

I may love my work, but I really need to rest over the next week. Rhi will be back on those emails too.

Rhi is out of office all week, delivering a bunch of her fantastic WW2 workshops! Sorry for any delays with email responses, thankfully, she will be back in charge of the company soon.

I have attempted to answer some of your emails, but I'm much better with ancient technology, running around and being annoyingly energetic. ⚡🏹 🦣
