vated. Everyday we celebrate the opportunities that we have to help our children flourish as individuals; there is no such thing as an ordinary day at Wimborne St Giles. We believe that success is all down to high expectations and aspirations for every child and we aim for excellence in everything we do. School should be a joyful experience for all children; they only have one shot at primary education and the greatest responsibility we have is to get it right for them at the very beginning.This page is designed to help document that and to give an insight into the daily activities at the school. We were extremely proud to have achieved an Ofsted 'Good' rating which recognised that children are 'at the heart' of everything we do and that we ensure 'the culture and ethos of the school reflect our whole school values of ‘Love, Hope and Joy’ that play a key role in helping pupils to learn and thrive across the school day'. 100% of our parents would recommend this school and say that their children feel safe and happy here. What a joy it has been to welcome our children back after the summer holidays! 💛
Our school is once again filled with laughter, friendship, learning and the excitement of a new year.
A very special welcome to our new Reception children and their families. 🥰 We are so delighted that you are now part of our school family and cannot wait to see all the wonderful ways you will grow, learn and flourish with us.

Today, our Year 4 children joined schools from across the Diocese of Salisbury Academy Trust for the annual DSAT Leavers’ Service at Salisbury Cathedral.

Together, we explored the theme of ‘Being Light in the Darkness’ - reflecting on how each of us can bring hope, kindness and courage to the world around us. Surrounded by our wider DSAT family in the beautiful setting of the cathedral, it was a truly special and uplifting morning.

As our Year 4 children prepare for the next stage of their journey, we hope they leave WSG knowing that they carry the values of Love, Hope and Joy with them and that they have the power to shine brightly wherever they go. We are so proud of them all.

Last week, we returned to Osmington Bay for our annual Year 4 PGL residential and, despite the ominous forecast, we enjoyed almost continual blue skies and sunshine! It was an action-packed three days of zip lining, problem solving, fencing, braving the heights of the Giant Swing, rafting off Portland, celebrating our first birthday ever on residential, learning new survival skills, singing campfire songs, toasting marshmallows and getting to play our new favourite game on a trampoline – aeroball! To say we are proud of all of the children would be an understatement. They proved themselves to be fearless, resilient, compassionate, hilarious and the BEST team - taking care of each other every step of the way and living out our values of Love, Hope and Joy. It was an utter privilege to witness. Thank you so much to Miss Warren and Mrs Charnock for helping to lead the visit and to PGL for another brilliant outdoor learning experience. A HUGE well done Year 4 - you are all superstars!! 🤩

What a truly unforgettable day we have had celebrating the 100th birthday of the legendary Sir David Attenborough!

Our children arrived dressed in wonderful wildlife-themed clothes as we spent the day learning all about Sir David’s extraordinary career, his lifelong dedication to the natural world and his passionate commitment to protecting and preserving our planet for future generations. Throughout the day, the children explored the beauty, diversity and fragility of the world around us and reflected on the important role we can all play in caring for creation. We even created our very own “nature documentaries” inspired by Sir David’s iconic storytelling style — and the children absolutely loved becoming wildlife presenters and filmmakers for the day!

In the afternoon, we were thrilled to join thousands of children from across the world for a very special Picture News online assembly featuring explorer and adventurer Steve Backshall before heading outside into the glorious sunshine for our very own wildlife-inspired street party!

A HUGE thank you to Chloe Hancock for the beautiful and delicious celebration cupcakes, to Mrs Osborne for helping to set up the party and organise all the food, to Mrs Gordon for her help and for the wonderful contributions for our special birthday party and to our fabulous Artist in Residence, Clare Holmes, for working with all the children to create a very special 100th birthday tribute filled with artwork inspired by the beauty of the natural world.

It was a day filled with awe, wonder, laughter and reflection — and a wonderful reminder of the importance of caring for the world around us.

Saplings, our youngest children in Nursery, have been loving their learning about minibeasts and looking for minibeasts in the areas around the school - including the courtyard, the pond, the playground and the flower pots! They’ve managed to spot flies, butterflies, worms, ants and spiders.

In Art with Clare (our artist in residence) we painted some of our favourite minibeasts - there were beautiful paintings created of bees, ladybirds, worms and caterpillars!

This morning, we came together at St Giles’ Church for a truly beautiful Easter Service.

Our children led the service so wonderfully – sharing readings, singing with such enthusiasm and closing with a really thoughtful prayer that made the whole service feel especially meaningful. We are so proud of them all.

Thank you to all of our families who were able to join us and be part of this special time together – it means so much to share these moments as a community.

We are also incredibly grateful to St Giles’ church for such a warm welcome and providing refreshments, to Rev Angus for a very thoughtful and provoking Easter message and to John Radford for the beautiful organ accompaniment which added so much to the atmosphere of the morning.

It was a really special time to come together and reflect on the love, hope and joy at the heart of the Easter story.

This afternoon, we were delighted to welcome some very special visitors into school… the most adorable chicks! 🐥💛

A HUGE thank you to Helen Munday (grandma to Piper and Amalie) for such a lovely treat — the children absolutely loved meeting them and it was such a special hands-on experience for everyone. There was so much excitement, awe and joy in the classrooms this afternoon!

Moments like these create such wonderful memories for our children and bring learning to life in such a real way. Thank you again, Helen, for your kindness and generosity. 😊

What an incredible morning of learning, curiosity and wonder we have shared today! 🚀✨

We were absolutely thrilled to welcome back Mario from Immersive Theatres and his amazing mobile planetarium — and what an unforgettable experience it was for all of our children.

Inside the dome, each class was taken on a truly magical journey through space. Our Years 3/4 pupils explored the night sky and Solar System in depth, travelled aboard a 3D Space Station and experienced what life is like aboard the International Space Station — from floating in zero gravity to living and working in orbit — before learning about the Moon and even looking ahead to future missions to Mars.

Our Reception and Saplings children loved their adventure with Plato the Explorer - sparking early curiosity about the universe around them - while also getting a glimpse of life in space.

Meanwhile, Years 1/2 enjoyed The Little Star That Could; a beautiful story that brought the wonders of space to life in a way that captured their imaginations perfectly.

Across the morning, all of our children deepened their understanding of the night sky, planets and space exploration — and the excitement reached a whole new level when some of us had the extraordinary opportunity to hold a real meteorite… millions of years old! A moment of pure awe that won’t be forgotten in a hurry.

What made the experience even more special was the way our children engaged throughout — asking such thoughtful, insightful questions that truly impressed and showed a real depth of curiosity and understanding.

The whole experience was filled with amazement, curiosity and joy — a true celebration of learning beyond the classroom.

We are so incredibly grateful to our fabulous PTA; whose tireless support and generosity make opportunities like this possible. These enriching experiences bring learning to life in such powerful ways and we simply couldn’t do it without you!

What a special way to begin our day 🌼

This morning, we joined together as a family of schools across the Diocese of Salisbury Academy Trust for a beautiful online Easter Service. It was a truly meaningful opportunity to pause and reflect on the theme of belonging and on the values of Love, Hope and Joy that sit at the very heart of the Easter story.

Although we may be geographically separated, moments like these remind us just how connected we are — a close and supportive family; united in a shared purpose.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to making the service possible. It was a wonderful celebration of togetherness.

Thank you so much to everyone who came along to support the PTA Easter Egg Hunt today as the school was transformed into a joyful Easter Extravaganza! It was wonderful to enjoy the beautiful spring sunshine and come together as a school family.

A HUGE thank you to all who helped out beforehand and on the day — sprucing up the school grounds, running the Easter-themed activities, face painting, crafting (including the beautiful crocheted animals!), baking cakes, preparing sandwiches, serving refreshments in the Hall and toasting marshmallows in the forest — we are SO grateful to you all.

We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Lord Shaftesbury and the Shaftesbury Estate for so kindly allowing us to use their beautiful grounds to start and finish the trail, which made the day even more special.

A special mention must also go to one of our parents, Chris Berry (aka our ‘Spring Chicken’!), for so enthusiastically embracing the Easter theme and bringing so much joy and laughter to the day.

We are absolutely delighted to share that we raised an incredible £1,841.59, which will help us continue to provide enriching learning experiences and opportunities for all of our children.

And finally, another massive thank you to our AMAZING PTA team who worked tirelessly to make the day such a success — it was truly a wonderful day for everyone.
