8 full time, fully outdoor forest nurseries in London/Surrey immersing 2 to 5-year-olds in nature 💚

We’re passionate about getting as many children as possible outdoors learning, playing and reconnecting with nature. Our forest nurseries are situated in magical sites where children’s imaginations are free to run wild. We follow the core Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum and incorporate learning in a safe and secure outdoor environment, where free play, fresh air, exposure to the natural world and physical activity are an integral part of learning.

🥰We love to speak to our Little Explorers about emotions to help them understand the way they may be feeling!

🌿For this activity we focused on the sensory side of our feelings, for example how ‘angry’ may feel like prickly holly leaves or a rough pinecone.

🪞We gathered lots of different natural materials for the children to make some natural faces on the tree stumps. We added some mirrors so they could make facial expressions and then mirror those using their leaves and twigs.

☀️A great way to spend a sunny afternoon!

🌳Our Little Forest Folk-ers have been trying all sorts of forest tool activities at our holiday camp in Twickenham this Summer!

📿Their favourite was nature jewellery making where they cut up an elder branch into small 2cm lengths and with a thin tent peg pushed out the pithy, soft centre to create a bead. They repeated this on a thick blackberry stalk to make some chunkier beads before making them into necklaces and bracelets!

🪚On another day they got to practise their sawing skills. Carefully learning to work with a large bow saw, they cut discs of wood from a large branch creating tree cookies. They then decorated their own cookies with colourful pens!

🔨Our little explorers even got to use hammers to carefully knock nails into a small piece of wood before attaching their favourite colours of wool to one of the nails. By twisting the wool around the nails they created beautiful nail art that could be undone and rewound again and again to create different patterns.

📩Tool work is just one of the fantastic activities we offer during our holiday camps. If you think your little one would love to try email us on [email protected]!

🌳Our swings are always a popular activity and have bought non-stop joy recently at our Putney Heath nursery!

🏋️Our Little Forest Folk-ers have been using their core strength to keep swinging and have been incredibly creative, leaning all the way back to look at the trees above them and twisting round and round to spin to their hearts' content.

💪This play not only strengthens their bodies but also enhances their spatial awareness, coordination and independence!

✨Swings are just one of the exciting activities on offer for little ones joining us in the forest for holiday camp - click the link in our bio to book a place for your little one or DM us for more details!

👩‍🌾At our wonderful Fulham nursery our educators are superstars when it comes to foraging for found materials and giving new purpose to discarded items!

🌿Utilising the natural treasures around them, Katie went searching in the compost looking for recently snipped tree branches from the gardeners or wilting flowers from the florist. She accumulated a bunch of petals, flowers and herbs, perfect for some natural arts and crafts.

💐Our Little Forest Folk-ers used some double sided tape to create a sticky surface on some colourful cards. They chose natural items to stick onto their canvases and made some beautiful compositions and arrangements!

🎓The last day of summer term 2026!

✨Last week we reached the end of the school year and bid farewell to the summer term! Emotions are running high at Little Forest Folk as over the next few weeks we'll be saying goodbye to some of our best friends who are leaving the forest to move on to big school. We will cherish the memories we've created together and carry the joy of their laughter with us always.

💚We know this is not goodbye, instead a 'see you soon' at one of our holiday camps! Until then we are wishing you all the best of luck with school, we know you will all be superstars!
