Herrings Green Activity Farm is the perfect place for your school or youth group. A trip to us gives you full access to all of the animal and bird of prey activities. Getting close to birds and animals is a memorable experience for all children, we are able to design a programme which suits your school’s or group’s needs. During your visit you will be in the company of one of our animal keepers or falconers who will share their passion and knowledge with you.

If you would prefer, we are also able to bring a small selection of our birds and animals to you! We have been visiting schools and groups for many years and we believe the best way of learning about birds of prey and retaining the knowledge is by seeing them up close. We are able to cater our visits to children of all ages.

Talks are tailored to the specific needs of your class or covering different subjects such as habitat, conservation, food chains, adaptations and night and day. The birds can be a focus in Art, Geography, and History projects and inspiration for creative writing.
We visit schools and groups all year round and are able to adapt to a variety of settings from halls to classrooms!

Have a magical time in the company of our owls; spend an hour meeting, handling and flying many different species including the beautiful Barn Owl, Tawny Owl, meet our Scops Owl, feel the weight of the giant Eagle Owl and more. From here head out into the flying ground where you will have the opportunity to fly the owls, a magical experience as they fly silently into your gloved hand.
Once your time with the owls is over you can enjoy tea and a delicious array of cakes in our tea room.
Places are limited so we advise you book early to avoid disappointment

British Raptor Photography Experience – September 27th 10.00-1.00
Best of British Bird of Prey Photography Experience — capture stunning photos of our beautiful British raptors up close.
Under the guidance of the falconers spend some time capturing images of our beautiful British Birds of prey including the Barn Owl, Kestrel, Red Kite, Golden Eagle, Peregrine Falcon, Tawny Owl & little Owl. During the course of the morning we will be providing a variety of species in different backdrops; capture British species in natural settings including meadows, hedgerows, trees & vintage farm machinery.
You will have the opportunity to watch a flying display where you can see many different species being flown. This will be followed by your own flying session; capturing images of some our birds in flight. The falconer is able to fly the birds towards you enabling you to get some fantastic action shots.

🎟🎟Competition Time – WIN a day with our Falconers and birds🎟🎟
Take part in our fundraising raffle for a once-in-a-lifetime experience – a full day behind the scenes with our expert falconers and incredible birds of prey!

A VIP day for you and a friend from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM. During the day you will be with one of our falconers; go behind the scenes into areas that are normally closed to the public, meet and handle some of our birds, assist with feeding, learn about how the birds are trained and flown, have a go at flying some different species of owls, hawks and eagles and watch a flying display and take part. PLUS there will be opportunities to feed some of the birds that don’t take part in our experience days.
The falconer will be with you throughout the course of the day giving you an insight into the centre, there will be plenty of opportunities for you to ask questions and take photos.
Lunch is not included but our tea room is open serving sandwiches and snacks or you are welcome to bring a picnic.

Raffle will close on November 13th and the winner will be announced November 14th.

SEN Bird & Animal Encounters – September 6th & 13th 10.00-11.30
These work shops allow children to experience interaction with our birds and animals. The range of birds and animals allow the children to view them closely, touch and interact.
All of the children are encouraged to experience the birds and animals as much as possible, however some children may well choose to look from a distance. Our experienced keepers will aim to reduce anxieties that the children may have around individual animals, we have found by creating a calm and relaxed environment, this can often be achieved.
Each session will feature a different theme:
September 6th – Farm Animals
Meet and interact with some of our friendly farm animals, including goats, sheep, donkeys, alpacas and pigs. Under the guidance of our keepers children will be given the opportunity to feed the animals.
September 13th – Small Animals & Reptiles
Meet some of our smaller animals on the farm, get to know our rabbits and guinea pigs, meet our skunk Nelly, and discover some of our fascinating reptiles.
These sessions are designed to encourage confidence, curiosity and connection with animals while providing a welcoming experience for children and their families.

£14.00 per child and includes one free adult, additional adults £8.00 per person (additional adults can pay on the day)
Each session includes admission into the farm and bird of prey centre for the day.

Forget your usual pumpkin picking this Halloween… ours comes with goats!

Head into our pumpkin field for a Halloween experience with a difference, where choosing your perfect pumpkin is only part of the fun.
Before you find that all-important pumpkin to take home and carve, you’ll get to spend some up-close time with our cheeky, curious and very entertaining goats! With one of our animal keepers by your side, you’ll be introduced to some of our lovable characters, including Gary, Bertie and to-me, as well as some of the youngsters born here in the spring. Expect plenty of goat mischief, funny moments and fantastic photo opportunities along the way!
Then it’s time to explore the pumpkin field and pick your very own pumpkin to take home ready for Halloween.
The Pumpkin Pick & Goats experience lasts approximately 20 minutes – but your visit doesn’t end there.

Your ticket includesfull-day admission to the Farm and Bird of Prey Centre, so you can turn your pumpkin-picking adventure into a whole day out.
Meet our sheep, alpacas, ponies, donkeys and many more of our friendly farm animals, before discovering our amazing collection of birds of prey.
