WPS took part in the Poetry Together Competition 2023.💚
This initiative was set up by Her Majesty the Queen and Gyles Brandreth who wanted to bring communities and generations closer together through the magical realms of poetry and cake!
The poetry writing talent was incredibly high, therefore, with difficulty, we have selected multiple poems to send to the competition. Congratulations: Ntembe, Sophia, Molly, Inaya, Deen and Lara!
We needed an overall winner, which was very tricky to choose, for the whole school to perform together. Congratulations Lara!
It was wonderful to invite visitors from our community link Cherished Care who we connected with during lockdown. Thank you to the WPS team for the music, poetry and cake!
At Wilmslow Prep our pupils consistently achieve outstanding sporting success at local, regional and national level.
Many continue to do so during their later years in school, university years and beyond.
The children looked spot-tacular on Friday in support of BBC Children in Need, coming into school in their spottiest accessories.
They all brought in money to donate and had the opportunity to buy merchandise to raise further funds.💛 🐻
We have broken the £800 mark with online & cash donations for our bikeathon. Thank you to everyone who has donated!

As in previous years, Wilmslow Prep participated in Anti-Bullying Week. The theme this year is ‘Make a Noise About Bullying’, which reflects the aim to come together to stop bullying and to show each other the support we need.
We organised a number of activities such as drama, making posters, comprehension, creating ‘kind hands’ pictures and baking. Discussions were held during PSHE lessons on how to be a kind friend and Key Stage Assemblies also took place during the week.
The children really enjoyed wearing odd socks on Monday, as it gave them an opportunity to show both individuality and empowerment by doing something positive to take a clear stance against the harm and hurt that bullying causes.
At Wilmslow Prep we encourage pupils to be more independent, be more responsible members of society and to play a positive role in contributing to the life of the school and the wider community.
In doing so, we help develop their sense of self-worth.
Does this sound like an environment your child would thrive in? Why not join us this week for our School Open Morning.
Prep 5 and Prep 6 were delighted to go and see Adam Kay - writer / comedian and Henry Paker at Stockport Plaza today as they promoted their new book “Kay’s Incredible Inventions”.
The author and illustrator were very entertaining and we thank Simply Books for organising the event.
Prep 6 were delighted to welcome Esther McVey, MP for Tatton, into their classroom today as part of UK Parliament Week.
Ms McVey was very impressed with all their insightful questions and really brought Parliament and the democratic process alive for the children.
Prep 2 received amazing news this week when they found out that the poems that they had entered in 'This is Me! Acrostics - It's Time to Rhyme' competition have all been chosen to be published!
We are all very pleased with this super achievement.
Happy Halloween!
We hope everyone has a spook-tacular day.👻 🎃 🦇
Autumn term recommences tomorrow!

It was wonderful to see the children and staff come to School wearing a yellow accessory today for World Mental Health Day. Everyone absolutely embraced the theme of ‘Stand Out and Show Up’, demonstrating that as a School community we support mental health in young people and adults.
On Friday we had our Harvest Festival and the children brought in food to be donated to a local food bank.
This morning Prep 6 took all of our donations to Food Friend at St Bartholomew’s Church.
Ahead of today’s Harvest Festival Prep 6 set out the harvest donations from all the classes.
These will be donated to the food bank on Monday.

Our School Council chose this as a fundraiser, and had help setting up from Prep 6.
From cake pops to Halloween themed cupcakes, families, teachers and the children had a great afternoon all for a good cause.
Once again we are thrilled to share news of our success at the ISA Regional Art Competition.🎨
All three of our entries were placed 1st or 2nd, and our two 1st place winners will now be entered into the National Competition taking place in November.
Congratulations to all the children; we are incredibly proud of you.
This year’s results are absolutely super but what is truly remarkable is that these outcomes are achieved year on year by our pupils: a fabulous reflection of the amazingly high standard of Art at Wilmslow Prep, and the way in which children’s talents are developed and nurtured.
Our School Council are looking forward to welcoming Wilmslow Prep families this afternoon for our Macmillan Cancer Support Coffee Afternoon.💚 ☕
Yesterday we celebrated the European Day of Languages and dressed up in the colours of different flags.

We're looking forward to welcoming everyone tomorrow for our School Open Morning!
As tomorrow is WPS’s 114th birthday, we gathered in a special assembly today to celebrate.
Each class crafted a card to mark this occasion, and we had a birthday cake with candles, inviting our oldest & youngest pupils to blow them out together🎂
During this special assembly we thought about our School’s history, talked about our School’s founders and explored some exercise books from a pupil who studied here in the 1930s📖
Here's to another great year of growth at WPS📚🎉
