Jewellery at the Wilmslow Guild

🤍This ring has had many reincarnations over the last few years and finally this beauty has emerged this week.
💛It’s gold, a complete mix of family metal & old broken jewellery.
💖The best thing about precious metals is you can just reinvent them!
❤️‍🔥This time the old work was all melted together, poured into an ingot, rollered out into very chunky square wire and given a twist before fabricating with a lot of brute force into a ring, soldered & finally given a high polish.

🐚 🪶 Designing sentimental items for gifts for her family from found objects, she’s created a stunning collection of work which was all finished this week.
📚 The handy “How To” book I’ve created takes our students step by step for this process.

What a fabulous and successful “Private View” curated by Anna at The Guild.

Absolutly thrilled to welcome in excess of 100 people to view the talent on display. Work was submitted to the selection panel to fit this years theme “Garden”. Such a huge variety of mixed medium, calligraphy and jewellery.

A huge thank you for everyone’s support on the night from our local community, students past and present, artists, tutors and singer Maisie for coming along and making the evening so wonderful.

The exhibition runs until the end of term so pop along over the next few weeks to view the work during opening hours, it’s worth a look and you might infact find a little something to treat yourself.

We welcomed a new lady for a trial session who got stuck in twisting wire and repairing her broken jewellery.

Sam joined us this January with an agenda to learn skills to design and make a brooch for her mum’s special birthday. I think we can all agree she’s achieved her goal!!!

Being a qualified gemologist Sam wanted to use gemstones from her collection acquired from her training with th GIA.

Amethyst, Ruby, synthetic ruby, rose quartz, peridot are encased in a silver floral design.
Designing a catch was tricky because a shop bought one would not do. This handcrafted double pin is super strong and a very springy catch.
