Carl Hester tells us:
“Self-carriage is really easy to see. It’s that tension into the hand that we were talking about with Valegro, the first place you see it is through the whole of the top line of the horse. The best thing you can do for self-carriage is the give and re-take of the reins. It is amazing how you forget to do that when you ride on your own. That constant giving the hand, taking, giving, taking, making sure that the outline is stable, the mouth is soft. You only have to look at the mouth to know how it is working, the horse is carrying its own head and neck. People that ride on their own, it can be something that they forget they are doing, people put in too much power and that’s why they find self-carriage difficult, and I always think you’ve got to create balance and then put power in, that way around.”

📣📣BIG NEWS📣📣

We are beyond excited to announce that from April 2024, we will be relocating to a phenomenal new private base at Willoughby Lodge Farm 🙌🏼
With fantastic facilities including multiple arenas and an all weather XC complex, we will be expanding our existing services as well as adding some exciting new bits!! Full details will be shared in the next few posts 🤩
Before any of that, I need to personally extend the biggest and most heartfelt thank you to the Holt family for their trust and support over the last few years, and for allowing me to start and grow my business from Hall Farm. It’s incredibly hard to think about leaving somewhere I love so much, and I wouldn’t be in the position I am now without their endless faith, patience and guidance. Frankly, no words can be enough for how grateful I am to have had these years at the farm. Thank you ❤️

To followers and clients past & present, keep your eyes peeled for upcoming full details on the yard and our new list of services very soon 🐎

Excellent joiner Dave Kilduff just made two excellent cupboards, hung oak doors, boxed in a corner wardrobe unit, fixed previous joiners poor work and was easy to work with.

His number is 07528143082

We’re extremely proud of this young lady and all that she has achieved in her grooming career. Crowned “FEI Groom of the Year” really was the fairytale finish to a lovely story that began many years ago when Kerryn was just a wee dot, tagging along with her Mum, who was grooming (and trying to organise!) a young Tim back in North Canterbury. Sadly though, the time is looming for the next chapter, and her time with us will culminate at the end of the season.

So if you’re passionate about Eventing and High Performance, love working with an energetic team of people and horses, have experience in the field, an HGV and might be looking for your “next chapter”, get in touch ☎️

Ps not for the faint hearted 😉
