This final half term we are moving on to looking and learning diagraphs. Two sounds that marry together to make one sound.

First week:
Ai and oa

Train tracks - building train tracks, making small world games, working and playing together
Rain - water cycle, learning the different stages and how and why it rains. Rain and sunshine make rainbows (our favorites)
Making rain makers, decorating with pAInt and filling with grAIns of rice

Noah’s ark - building boats, animals and the noises they make , counting 2 by 2.

Recapping over all the single sounds we’ve learnt since September.
This week we covered the first 12

We linked pictures of things that began with each sound, we liked these to our names, we did alphabet jigsaws, looking for when sounds matched in our names, we focused on identifying the initial sound and the children really impressed me with their quick understanding and problem solving.
We went back to groups we’ve not been to for a while such as the library rhythm and rhyme time , we’ve role played, created cafes with menus and taking orders and dodged the rain when we could! It’s been a busy week!
Next week we will go over the remainder of the single letter sounds just in time to finish for a week as it’s half term. Then I cannot believe we will be in the last half term of the school year and some of my little ones will be moving on up to school!!! This year has gone incredibly quick! They are ready, but I’m not sure I am!

Clark family Easter holiday cruising ♥️ it’s been amazing : Malta, Toulon France, Pisa, Rome, Naples and sea days.
