Our Curiosity Approach Accredited settings understand WHY they need to create those cosy comfortable spaces.
At The Curiosity Approach, we first introduced the word 'Hygge', in our first book The A-Z of The Curiosity Approach back in 2017, but what does it mean and why should we pay attention to the physical environment we provide for children?
Hygge (pronounced hue-guh not hoo-gah) is a Danish word used when acknowledging a feeling or moment, ordinary or extraordinary as cosy, charming or special.
Hygge is a feeling you cannot translate.
Itโs about a space that promotes emotional well-being, togetherness and friendship. Itโs a place children, can feel comfortable to snuggle down or explore with confidence.
https://www.thecuriosityapproach.com/blog/hygge-in-the-early-years
Far removed from an institutionalized sterile setting, hygge offers children within your setting a sense of security and well-being. An extension of their home and not a watered-down version of school.
At The Curiosity Approach we look to place caregiving moments as a priority, Nel Noddings quote
โMy contention is, first, that we should want more from our educational efforts than adequate academic achievement and, second, that we will not achieve even that meager success unless our children believe that they themselves are cared for and learn to care for others.โ
We are also inspired by the works of Emmi Pikler , have you accessed our pocket size training an introduction to Pikler ? Find the link here ๐๐ฝ

Thank you for the image, following on from them being members of our Curiosity Approach Academy and understanding more about our modern day pedagogy.
They have gone from โordinary to extraordinary โโค๏ธ
Within Curiosity Approach Academy you will hear directly from Lyndsey and Myself ( Stephanie) remove the myths and misconceptions that filter out.
Academy doors are now open! ( last few days )
๐นDo you and your team need to boost moral?
๐นReward the team for their exemplary efforts over the past 2 years and before !
๐นAre they inspired by us and joining the Academy would be the best well being boost ever ?
Why not reward them and join today ! Joining the ACADEMY is for the ENTIRE team ๐
