🌿 Borneo 2028 – an adventure with purpose! 🦧

Pool Hayes Academy is delighted to be working with Camps International to offer students an exciting four-week expedition to Borneo in summer 2028.

Parents and carers of students in Years 9, 10, 11 and 12 are invited to our informal presentation evening to discover more and ask questions:

📅 Thursday 15 October 2026
🕕 6pm
📍 Main Hall, Pool Hayes Academy

The presentation will last approximately 45 minutes.

This expedition offers students the chance to trek through the Bornean jungle, support conservation projects protecting orangutan habitats, and work alongside rural communities. Along the way, they can build confidence, develop valuable life skills and experience a different culture.

The all-inclusive expedition costs £5,130, with scheduled payment plans available. Students are encouraged to fundraise, with support from Camps International throughout.

PHA Sixth invites our PHAmily to a Halloween charity event in support of the NSPCC! Join us for a scare maze, quiz, live band and more, with all money raised going towards the charity 💚

💛 Our Latest Ofsted Report: Recognising Progress at Pool Hayes Academy 🖤

We are delighted to share with you that we have now received our Ofsted report.

This report reflects the significant progress our academy has made and recognises the positive changes that have taken place across our school community. We are particularly pleased that inspectors acknowledged the improvements in teaching and learning, alongside the real cultural shift that has been created throughout the academy.

While there is still more work ahead of us, we are proud of how far we have come together. This achievement belongs to our entire community, our staff, students, parents and carers. The strong sense of belonging, being part of the PHAmily, support and shared ambition that exists within our academy has been central to this success.

We know that improving outcomes for all students remains our next important priority. The foundations are now firmly in place, and we are confident that the improvements recognised by Ofsted will continue to translate into even stronger outcomes for our young people.

Thank you for your continued support, encouragement and belief in our academy. Together, we have achieved something significant, and together, we will continue our journey of improvement.

📣 Discover The Beacon’s new Walsall hub! 📣

The Beacon, provided by Change Grow Live, has moved to a new space and is hosting a FREE Open Day for schools, colleges, safeguarding teams, partner agencies and professionals supporting young people.

Meet the team, explore the new hub and learn about their support services for young people and families, including early intervention and substance use support. There will also be opportunities to find out about referrals, training, workshops and partnership working.

💛 Celebrating our wonderful Pool Hayes Academy community! 🖤

It’s always lovely to receive positive feedback from families following our Open Evening. Choosing a secondary school is such an important step, and we’re grateful to everyone who spent the evening with us to explore what Pool Hayes Academy has to offer.

Our Open Evening is an opportunity to meet the people who make our academy special, discover our subjects and facilities, and get a feel for life as part of our school community.

A huge thank you to our staff for their hard work and enthusiasm, and to our PHAntastic students for representing the academy with such pride. You all helped make the evening a memorable experience for our visitors.

💧 Stay Hydrated, Stay Focused! 💧

A reminder to all students to bring a water bottle to school each day. Staying hydrated is important for both your health and learning!

Students can refill their bottles in the main hall at break and lunchtime, helping them stay refreshed throughout the day.

Did you know? Even mild dehydration can affect concentration, alertness and memory, making it harder to stay focused in lessons. Research shows that drinking enough water can help support attention and cognitive performance in school-aged children.
