Food Tasting Friday was a big hit in Year 1/2! As part of our Design and Technology food unit, the children tasted a variety of dips and explored the language used to describe different tastes and textures. We discussed our likes and dislikes, and while there were some funny facial expressions, everyone had lots of fun trying something new!

This week, Year 1/2 began learning about the butterfly lifecycle. Working in groups, the children acted out the different stages: egg, caterpillar, chrysalis, and butterfly. They had lots of fun while developing their understanding of how butterflies grow and change!

Sports betting has become increasingly visible online, appearing across apps, websites, social media, sports coverage and gaming spaces.

Even when young people are not legally old enough to gamble, they may still encounter betting messages through adverts, influencers, tipsters, friends or adult accounts.

Our latest guide highlights key risks, including:
• Easy online access
• Gambling becoming normalised around sport
• Peer and influencer pressure
• Free bet offers
• Impulsive spending and chasing losses

It also offers practical advice for parents, carers and educators on starting calm conversations, setting safer digital boundaries, spotting warning signs and finding support.

To celebrate England’s first game of the World Cup, and Year 3/4 getting England in our sweepstake, we had a game of football in the sunshine.

Fingers and toes crossed that tonight’s score is 2-1 to England, as that’s our guess, and if we win, we win an extra 10 minutes of play of Thursday!
Come on England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 🏆

In English, Y3/4 have been skimming and scanning texts. We read lots of information texts about a range of explorers and have found key information. It’s been very exciting reading all the adventurous stories!

In STEM club, we have been making bridges. We used straws to try and build the strongest one. The winning team managed to build a bridge which could hold 1.4kg! Pretty incredible right?

Y3 had the honour of showing the whole school their beautiful Communion outfits in assembly. We then had a breakfast party to celebrate this wonderful step into their faith journey.

Congratulations to our wonderful Year 3 children who received their First Holy Communion on Saturday. It was a beautiful and prayerful service, and a real joy to watch the children take this important step in their faith journey. We are so proud of the reverence, confidence and commitment they showed throughout the celebration.

We would like to thank everyone who has supported the children along the way, especially their families who have encouraged them throughout their sacramental journey. A special thank you also goes out to our dedicated catechists, whose time, guidance and faith filled support have helped to prepare the children so well for this special occasion 🙏🏼
