St Aidan’s Catholic Primary School

Some of our KS2 children had the opportunity to attend a Just Join In Festival at Leigh Harriers on Tuesday, where they enjoyed learning a dance routine and developing their skills in golf, cricket and rugby. It was a lovely day, and the children represented the school brilliantly! We are very proud of them.

Today the children in nursery enjoyed a wonderful visit from Acorn Farm. They had the opportunity to hold guinea pigs, chicks, a rabbit and even a rat!
The children also loved meeting a new baby lamb and feeding two friendly goats. It was a fantastic experience, giving them the chance to learn about and interact with a variety of animals.
We had such a lovely morning and would like to thank Acorn Farm for visiting us! 💚

Some of our Year 5 and Year 6 children had a fantastic day at a Rugby Festival hosted by Wigan Warriors! They enjoyed a variety of coaching sessions where they developed new rugby skills and built their confidence. They then put their learning into practice playing lots of matches against other schools! 🏉

Year 3 and 4 have had some Golbourne ex miners in today to talk about what life was like as a coal miner as part of their Industrial Revolution topic.

Congratulations to this superstar in Y2 who has had her very own story published! The Adventurous Two, which has been written and illustrated by this talented pupil, tells the story of Buzz the spaceman who sets off on a strange and exciting adventure through forests, mud, dragons and museums! She has kindly gifted a copy of the book to school for her classmates to enjoy. We’re very proud of you💚

What an incredible time our Year 6 pupils have had on their residential trip! From soaring through the trees on the zip line and tackling the trapeze, to taking on the giant swing, canoeing, raft building and so many other exciting activities, every day was filled with adventure, laughter and new challenges.

Our children have created wonderful memories with their friends that will last a lifetime. We are so proud of the enthusiasm, courage, teamwork and resilience they have shown throughout the trip. They represented our school wonderfully.

Today we released our five butterflies into the nursery garden. The children were so excited to come into nursery this morning and observe the changes that had taken place over the half term. They watched with great interest as the butterflies spread their wings and flew off into the garden. This was a fantastic opportunity for the children to learn about the butterfly life cycle.

A group of Y6 children had a fantastic time at Haigh Hall orienteering earlier this week. They demonstrated brilliant communication and teamwork skills. Thank you, School Games, for organising this event!
