Hindley Green Community Primary School Nursery is looking for a Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join our fantastic Early Years team!

Reception Intake 2027: Applications Opening Soon

Is your child due to start Reception in September 2027?

Applications for Reception places across Wigan will open on Wednesday 30 September 2026.

Parents and carers are encouraged to apply online through Wigan Council's website. If you have not used the admissions portal before, you will need to register and create an account before applying.

Important information:

Applications must be submitted by 15 January 2027.
Parents and carers must apply through the local authority they pay council tax to, even if they wish to apply for schools in another area.
Two forms of proof of your permanent address are required when applying. These can be uploaded to the online portal or emailed to [email protected].
Applications received after the closing date will be classed as late.

A huge shout out to Mohammed Musa and the team at Strive Pro Printers for the fantastic work they have done for QUEST Trust and our schools!

EYFS Roadshow coming to Hindley Green

We’re pleased to share that Hindley Green Community Primary School will be hosting the Early Excellence EYFS Roadshow 2026/27 on Thursday 11 February 2027.

This immersive CPD experience is designed to inspire EYFS teams, with practical ideas, strategic guidance and opportunities to explore an Early Excellence model classroom.

The roadshow includes:

Morning: Evaluative session for Headteachers and Senior Leaders
Afternoon: Development session for EYFS Leads
Twilight: Ideas and inspiration for EYFS Teams

Attendees will have the opportunity to explore effective learning environments, consider how provision supports the curriculum, network with colleagues and gain practical ideas to enhance EYFS practice.

Celebrating Sporting Success at St. Peter’s!

We are delighted to celebrate St. Peter’s C of E Primary School, Hindley, on earning the ATSA School Sports Silver Award!

Throughout the last academic year, the school attended 41 sporting events, with 104 individual pupils taking part.

When including children who attended multiple events, this provided an incredible 381 personal development opportunities for pupils through ATSA.

A particularly fantastic achievement is that 100% of Year 6 children represented the school in inter school sports last year, ensuring every child had the opportunity to experience competitive sport and be part of a team.

This recognition reflects St. Peter’s commitment to providing children with opportunities to develop their skills, build confidence, work collaboratively and enjoy the benefits of being active.

We are delighted to celebrate St. John’s Church of England Primary School, Abram, on achieving the School Games Silver Mark Award for the 2025/26 academic year!

The award recognises the school’s commitment to school sport, competition and participation. This year, pupils attended eight School Games events, with more than 80 young people given the opportunity to take part.

We’re delighted to be hosting the Early Excellence EYFS Roadshow 2026/27 at University Collegiate School in Bolton on 6 October 2026.

This immersive CPD experience is designed to inspire and support EYFS teams, with sessions tailored for Headteachers and Senior Leaders, EYFS Leads and the wider EYFS team.

The day will explore:
How effective your EYFS is and its impact across the school
How your learning environment supports your curriculum
Practical ways to elevate learning within the EYFS environment
A guided learning walk of the Early Excellence model classroom

There will also be opportunities to explore the classroom, network with colleagues and gain practical ideas to take back into your setting.

Full Day Pass: £300 per school (excluding VAT)
