A huge thank you to all of our staff, our School Crossing Patrol, parents, carers, Mellors caterers and, of course, our wonderful children for helping us have such a successful week in school despite the very warm temperatures.

Together, we've made lots of sensible adjustments to keep everyone safe and comfortable. Uniforms have been adapted, playtimes have been adjusted, and children and staff have worked together to find ways to stay cool. Our brilliant School Crossing Patrol even put her hat in the freezer to help keep cool while keeping everyone safe!

Our Nursery and Reception children have enjoyed lots of water play, helping them have fun while staying refreshed. Across the school, we've also been learning about wellbeing by slowing down, practising meditation and mindfulness, and in Early Years PE we've enjoyed gentle movement activities such as Tai Chi.

Our kitchen team have also helped to keep everyone cool by serving ice cream, watermelon, fruit and choc ices with school lunches, alongside plenty of fresh salad from our salad bar.

Thank you for all your support and efforts this week. We hope everyone has a lovely weekend and enjoys the slightly cooler temperatures ahead.

Today, our Year 6 children had the privilege of joining schools from across the Blackburn Diocese for a wonderful Leaver’s Service at St George’s Church, Chorley.

Together, we sang joyfully, praised God and reflected on this year‘s Diocesan Centenary theme, ‘All For Jesus.’

Through the inspiring story of ‘Jesus and Peter Walking on the Water,’ the children were encouraged to trust in God as they prepare to take the next exciting step on the journey to high school.

A huge thank you to the team at Blackburn Dioceses, whose uplifting worship and inspiring message made the celebration even more special.

It was truly a memorable experience filled with music, faith, hope and thanksgiving.

We are incredibly proud of our Year 6 children and all they have achieved during their time at St Wilfrid‘s. As they begin a new chapter, we pray that they will continue to walk confidently in faith, knowing that God is always with them.

⭐️ Throwback Thursday through the archives! ⭐️

This week, we’re taking you back to 2013 as we look back at our Year 6 PGL residential from 13 years ago!

Having just returned from another fantastic residential with our current Year 6 children, it’s the perfect time to reflect on a tradition that has become such a special part of life at St Wilfrid‘s.

For many years, our PGL residential has marked the end of primary school – a chance for oldest pupils to challenge themselves, build confidence, strengthen relationships and create memories that last a lifetime before moving onto high school.

Looking through these photographs from 2013, it’s clear that somethings never change… the excitement, the teamwork, the adventure and, of course, the smiles!

Can you spot yourself or someone you know?

We’d love you to tag any familiar faces and tell us your favourite PGL memory.

Whether it was conquering the climbing wall, tackling the zip wire, surviving the giant swing or simply laughing with friends, we’d love to hear your stories.

Here’s to over a decade of unforgettable adventures and many more to come. Standish Voice Standish Then And Now

Just some of the ways we have been keeping cool today in the warm weather!
The Reception enjoyed splashing their feet in water, everyone is making sure children stay hydrated by drinking regularly and taking their water bottles with them and coming inside when it is becoming too hot outside. We also had refreshing lunches this week with choc ices and healthy salads from our salad bar.

🎶 A note-worthy visit from Manchester Baroque! 🎶

This week, we were delighted to welcome Manchester Baroque, who began their visit with a whole-school assembly, introducing pupils to the wonderful world of Baroque music and the fascinating string instruments used to perform it.

The morning continued on a crescendo as our Year 3 children took part in engaging and interactive workshops, exploring music through hands-on activities. It was wonderful to see them so fascinated and full of questions, striking the right chord between curiosity and excitement.

A huge thank you to James, Andrew and Gemma from Manchester Baroque for inspiring our children and sharing their passion, expertise and beautiful music with us. It was a memorable experience that brought history and music to life for everyone involved.
