Partou The Village Day Nursery and Pre-school, Standish Lower Ground Partou The Village Day Nursery & Pre-school provides early years care and education for children aged 0-5 years old in Standish Lower Ground.

At Partou, the children are the leaders. The Village Day Nursery opened in 2000 and is situated in Standish Lower Ground, Wigan. It operates from a converted village primary school and provides accommodation on two floors. Most children under three years are cared for on the ground floor whilst the older children use the two pre-school rooms on the first floor. All children have access to a secure outdoor play area. A maximum of 89 children may attend the nursery at any one time. The nursery is open each weekday from 7.30 until 18.00 throughout the year.

We’re so excited that all of our preschool children have received a lovely BookTrust pack to take home! 🎁📖

For anyone who hasn’t come across BookTrust before, they are the UK’s largest children’s reading charity. They help families discover the joy of books and encourage children to develop a lifelong love of reading. 🌈

We hope you enjoy exploring the pack together at home and sharing lots of lovely stories. Whether it’s a bedtime story, a quiet afternoon read or your child choosing their favourite book for the tenth time! 😄📚

Reading together is such a special way to spend time with your little ones, while also supporting their language, imagination and confidence.

🦷 What’s New This Week? ⭐

This week we’ve introduced a new oral health station in our nursery reception area!

Families are welcome to take a free toothbrush and toothpaste for their little one to help promote good oral hygiene habits at home. Alongside this, you’ll also find helpful information, brushing charts and resources to support healthy smiles from an early age. 😁🪥

We’re also inviting families to share their thoughts through our new feedback forms. Your feedback is incredibly important to us and helps us celebrate what’s working well, whilst identifying areas where we can continue to grow and improve.

💚 BE SEEN GOING GREEN | 15th & 16th SEPTEMBER 💚
We are incredibly excited to be taking part in Be Seen Going Green and sharing this important initiative with all of our nursery families.
Be Seen Going Green is helping to raise awareness of Myotonic Dystrophy, a condition that affects around 8,000 to 9,500 people across the UK.
Here at nursery, we believe that every child is wonderfully unique. We celebrate differences, encourage children to be proud of who they are and work hard to create an environment where everyone feels included, valued and supported. 💚
That's why we're proud to come together as a nursery community to help raise awareness and get people talking about Myotonic Dystrophy.
On Tuesday 15th and Wednesday 16th September, we're inviting all of our children and staff to wear something green and help us turn the nursery green! 💚🌿
It could be a green jumper, dress, T-shirt, hairband, socks or anything else green that you have at home. Every splash of green helps us Be Seen, raise awareness and show our support.
👀 Children, make sure you keep a look out for all of the grown-ups too! Our nursery team will be joining in with green clothing, accessories and maybe even a few surprises. See how many green items you can spot throughout the day! 💚
We'll also be proudly supporting Together for Toby and their amazing awareness campaign. 🦁💚
So let's fill our nursery with GREEN and show just how much we can achieve when we come together. 💚
Because every child deserves to feel included, valued and celebrated for exactly who they are.

A warm welcome to September and the start of a new term! 💛 We’re so excited to welcome back our children and families, and a big welcome to all of our new starters. We have lots of exciting activities and learning opportunities planned!

📚 Literacy Month – Throughout September, we’ll be celebrating all things literacy! We’ll be encouraging a love of books, stories and reading, while supporting the children’s speaking, listening, attention and understanding skills through lots of fun and engaging activities. 📖✨

🧸 Teddy Bear Day – 9th September
A day full of teddy bear fun, imagination and creativity! 🐻

💚 Be Seen Going Green – 15th and 16th September
We’ll be raising awareness of Myotonic Dystrophy and showing our support for families affected by the condition.

🌍 World Gratitude Day – 21st September
Exploring kindness, appreciation and the things we are thankful for. 💛

🤟 International Day of Sign Languages – 23rd September
Celebrating communication, inclusion and the different ways we can communicate with one another.

🌍 European Day of Languages – 26th September
Celebrating the many different languages and cultures within our nursery community. 🌈

👫 Friendship Month
Throughout September, we’ll be talking about friendship, kindness and inclusivity, helping the children understand what it means to be a good friend and making everyone feel welcome. 💕

🪥 We’ll also be supporting the children with their toothbrushing routines this term, helping to encourage healthy habits from an early age.

🍂 As the weather gets cooler, please remember to provide suitable outdoor clothing and footwear, so we can continue enjoying our outdoor spaces in all weathers! 🌦️

📚 We’re also looking forward to our Wigan Library sessions for the 0–5s throughout September.

We hope all of our children and families have had a wonderful summer filled with fun, laughter and special memories.

The first day of our new term is Monday 7th September, and we are so excited to see all of our familiar faces again, as well as welcome any new children joining us.

Our team can’t wait to hear all about your summer adventures and make lots more memories together throughout the year ahead. 💜

Happy Monday to all of our village families. We are excited to announce that from next term we are supporting the children to brush their teeth at nursery!
We know how much of a challenge it can sometimes be to encourage the children at home to brush their teeth so Wigan council have put together a 'Supervised
Brushin' Scheme' for nurseries and schools to give the children an added opportunity to brush their teeth and encourage good oral health habits from an early age.

Over the last week you should have received a 'information for parents/carers' and 'consent form' please could we have them returned to nursery by 7th September 2026. If you have not yet received your consent form please can you ask any member of the team and they will be able to get one for you 🪥😁
