We loved seeing this picture posted on Wigan Today this week of a group of Wigan technical college apprentices at work building a bungalow in 1970.
56 years apart, we tried to replicate the photo with our current crop of apprentices, who have also been working on their own bungalow at our Centre of Excellence in Construction & Engineering at the Pagefield Campus.
A great reminder of the importance of apprenticeships and the value of passing skills on to the next generation.

We wanted to say a big thanks to Bindi who has helped our students and staff over the last few weeks and in particular over the exam period.
Bindi is our therapy dog, based at our Pagefield Campus, and has done a stella job helping to alleviate any stresses and anxiety for students with her calm nature.

Catering trip - Braga update ๐ต๐น
Our students have spent their mornings on work placement in local eateries with some educational visits in the afternoons.
They visited the Shrine of Our Lady of Sameiro - one of the most visited places of Marian worship in Portugal. It also provided a stunning view over the city of Braga.
They also headed to Bom Jesus Do Monte and took part in some team activities at Ofir beach as well as sampling lots of the delicious local cuisine.

Our all female student group have safely landed in Bali for the start of a real once-in-a-lifetime opportunity๐โ๏ธ
A mix of our Student Council representatives, alongside students from Engineering, Science and the Arts, are undertaking an amazing two-week residential experience on the beautiful Indonesian island (we're not jealous at all).
The group brings a mix of talented and ambitious young women from across the college to develop their confidence, independence and global outlook. They'll be taking part in meaningful skills development activities, work experience opportunities and cultural exchange experiences, gaining invaluable insight into life and work in another part of the world.
Assistant Principal, Maxine Mealey said: "Beyond the practical skills, this journey is about broadening horizons, building resilience, developing leadership and creating memories that will last a lifetime.
"We're incredibly proud of every student taking part and grateful to the staff supporting this unique opportunity. We look forward to sharing their experiences and celebrating everything they achieve during their time in Bali."
