Wigan & Leigh College has been providing high-quality education and training locally for over 150 years. It is the only General Further Education College in the towns of Wigan and Leigh, serving a population of approximately 301,000. The College aims to be inclusive and we are proud of the equality of opportunity which is demonstrated in the breadth and scope of our provision. Over 14,000 people choose to study at the College, their needs being at the heart of everything we provide. The College operates from a number of sites across the borough of Wigan. Parsons Walk, School for the Arts and Pagefield are located in Wigan, close to the town centre. Leigh Adult Learning Centre and Leigh College are close to the town centre of Leigh.

Today, we hosted our inaugural Year 11 7-a-side football tournament which brought together teams from Cansfield High School, Southlands High School, Dean Trust Rose Bridge, Outwood Academy Hindley and Wigan & Leigh College.

The festival of footy kicked off with an overview of our Sport Performance & Excellence Pathway (Football Development Programme), the perfect course to develop your football development in all aspects of the game.

The tournament provided some highly competitive match ups culminating in a final showdown between Southlands High School 1 vs Cansfield High School.

After some late drama with an equalising goal in the final seconds to make it 2-2, Cansfield went on to win in the penalty shootout.

A fantastic away win yesterday for our Men's Rugby Team ๐Ÿ‰ โœจ

They beat Bishop Burton College (Hull FC) 22-30 with standout performances from David Asatiani (Electrical Engineering student), Mason Cotton (Sport) and Jake Hancock (Joinery).

Our HND Travel & Tourism student, Tilly recently spoke with our Level 3 second year Travel learners about her experience with Camp America.

She discussed the activities and responsibilities she undertook, the challenges she overcame, and the valuable skills she developed, including communication, teamwork, independence, confidence and problem-solving.

Tilly, who gained Distinction*, Distinction*, Distinction in her Level 3 last academic year, also discussed how the experience supported her personal and professional development and offered advice to students considering similar opportunities.
