St Mark's CE Primary School St Mark's CE Primary School Welcome to our new School Page! In addition, we’ll let you know about other great things that happen in school.

We have updated this ready for the new academic year and will use this site to post notices, events and updates. We want to use social media to keep you informed of things in school and to celebrate all the fantastic things the pupils and staff do. We’ll also post examples of children’s work so that you can see the very high standards they are achieving. Please feel free to comment positively on the children’s achievements. Having a page will also help us to keep you up to date with important information you need. We all know that sometimes children forget to bring home letters, or that they get lost/left in school bags. So keep checking our page! We don’t want the page to be used to deal with concerns or enquiries. My worry is that important concerns, valid complaints or request for information might not get picked up in a timely manner, or be lost amongst other comments. If you do have a concern, complaint or enquiry, please get in touch with us at school so that we can make sure your questions are answered. We want to keep the page open for comments, but are concerned that it may be abused by others, outside of the school community. We ask that you don’t make any personal comments about children or staff on the page and that you inform us straight away if you spot something that may not be appropriate. Hopefully, the page will grow into something we all find valuable, informative and most of all enjoyable.

This week, our toddlers have been focusing on sharing and taking turns.
During circle time, we have been taking turns adding blocks to our tower, helping us practise patience and sharing with our friends. We have also been passing Teddy around the circle, taking turns to say our names and building confidence when speaking in front of the group.
Carry on with our theme “I am special” we have been creating our own self-portraits using paper plates. The children looked carefully in the mirror to notice their different features, such as their eyes, hair, nose and mouth, before creating their own pictures. 🪞🎨

It’s been a fun and busy week in the toddler room! 🐸
Our rhyme of the week has been “Five Little Speckled Frogs”. We have enjoyed singing along, counting our frogs and practising how many we have as we join in with the rhyme.
We’ve also had a messy and sensory week, exploring lots of different textures and talking about how they feel. The children have been using words such as cold, wet and squishy to describe what they can feel, as well as making marks and exploring different ways to create pictures within our messy play.
Continuing our “I Am Special” theme, we have been learning about our faces and identifying different facial features. We looked at pictures of eyes, noses, mouths and ears, before drawing around one of our friends and working together to label their facial features. 👀👃👄
And finally… look who’s going home with Rainbow Bear this weekend! 🧸🌈 We wonder what adventures they will get up to together!

This week, the toddlers have been exploring our new termly theme, “I Am Special.” We have been learning about our facial features. The children enjoyed getting creative making fruit faces, using different fruits to represent facial features, such as a strawberry for a nose and two blueberries for eyes.
To further develop our learning, we have also been counting our facial features and using the correct amount of fruit to create our faces. For example, we counted how many eyes, noses and mouths we have before choosing the corresponding number of pieces of fruit.
Our rhyme of the week has been “Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes,” which has encouraged the children to identify and move different parts of their bodies while singing along.

The toddlers have continued to settle into nursery beautifully this week. We have introduced our daily routine, and the children have done an amazing job getting familiar with what happens throughout the day.
We have also been enjoying lots of singing and circle-time activities. One of our favourites has been “Roll the Ball, Roll the Ball, What’s Your Name?” This has been a lovely way for the children to begin learning and recognising each other’s names, while building confidence and forming new friendships.
It has been wonderful to see the children becoming more comfortable, confident and happy in their nursery environment each day!
