Promoting the education of people under the age of 25 yrs who or whose parents live in the Borough of Wigan and who are in need of financial assistance.
While the school was in existence, the Foundation's Trustees administered the endowment income for the benefit of pupils and former pupils of the school. Upon the schools closure there was a considerable endowment but no way of administering it. A new scheme was approved by the Charity Commission on May 2nd 1997. The Trustees are anxious to publicise the scheme to young people who may benefit as i
ndividuals and to schools which may be eligible. WHO CAN BENEFIT? Individuals:
If you can answer "Yes" to all the following questions you may apply for an award.
1. Are you under the age of 25yrs?
2. Do you or your parents live in the Borough of Wigan?
3. Do you attend an educational establishment or are you leaving one and preparing to enter a profession, trade or service?
4. Do you need financial assistance to help to provide uniforms, tools, instruments, books or other equipment. Or do you need financial assistance to travel to your place of education. This has to be above what is already provided.
5. Are you or your parents circumstances creating a barrier to learning which this award would help to overcome? SCHOOLS and COLLEGES
