Oakfield Arts Week celebrated the theme of Flora and Fauna, providing learners with exciting opportunities to explore creativity through nature through every subject. Highlight of the week was a painting workshop led by a professional artist in the school’s polytunnel, where learners carefully observed and painted flowers grown on site. These beautiful artworks will be displayed around the raised beds, creating a lasting legacy of the project. Learners also took part in a collage-led workshop, producing colourful flowers from recycled magazines and promoting sustainability through art. In addition, an abstract landscape artist inspired learners to experiment with colour, texture and imagination. Staff and learners thoroughly enjoyed the week, embracing every opportunity to be creative, collaborative and inspired by the natural world

A huge congratulations to Callum Hurst, who has been accepted into the AFC Fylde Academy following a series of successful trials. 👏
The fantastic news means Callum will continue his journey with Atherton Colls Juniors while also developing within the AFC Fylde Academy programme – a brilliant opportunity for a player who has worked tirelessly to improve his game.
Callum’s journey is a perfect example of what dedication, commitment and a willingness to learn can achieve. His coaches have watched him develop into a technically gifted midfielder, becoming a real leader on the pitch through his work ethic, maturity and desire to improve every single week.
This achievement is also a credit to his family, his teammates and all of the coaches who have supported him throughout his football journey.

A huge thank you to all our learners for entering Oakfield's Got Talent. Over 100 learners applied and did amazingly well to get through to the auditions. The final show was amazing and all learners did well. The judges had a tough time deciding on the winner as there was so much talent. A special well done to Alfie for winning this year's Oakfield's Got Talent with his fantastic version of "She's Electric".
We can't wait to see what next year's show brings.

This term, Alex from the Music Service came into school and did a drumming workshop with all of our Year 8 learners. They had lots of fun learning to play different rhythms and learning all about call and response.

We're excited to let you know that Sports Day 2026 will be taking place across two days – Tuesday 14th July and Wednesday 15th July.
Year 7 & 8 will attend Leigh Sports Village running track on Tuesday 14th July.
Year 9 & 10 will attend Leigh Sports Village running track on Wednesday 15th July.
On the day your child is not at Leigh Sports Village, they will take part in a Sports Festival back at school, giving them an extra opportunity to get active and enjoy a variety of sporting activities.
What to Wear:
At Leigh Sports Village: Learners must wear their full Oakfield PE kit.
At School for the Sports Festival: Learners can wear sports clothing they are proud of, such as:
Their football kit (if they play for a team).
A dance club t-shirt.
A top from any activity they take part in outside of school.
If they do not take part in any clubs, they can wear their favourite colour or the kit of a team they support.
Lunch & Essentials:
All learners who usually receive a school dinner will be provided with a packed lunch on both days. Please note there will be no hot meals available.
All learners must bring a refillable water bottle and appropriate clothing for the weather, such as a hat, sun cream, or a raincoat.
Please note: Unfortunately, due to capacity restrictions at Leigh Sports Village, we are unable to invite parents to attend the event at the track. Pictures of the day will be available on our school's social media.
