The Little Explorers went for a trip to Wigan Libraries.
They returned their books from last time we went.
The children had story time.
They chose some more books to read / look at by themselves.
One of the books had Autumn activities in that we may be able do.
Then before going, they chosen some more books, Halloween themed ones, to take back home with them.
Once home they finished their Pumpkin paintings off.

The Little Explorers went to Newbank Garden Centre this morning. The weather was awful so we thought we’d go somewhere where we’d all stay dry.

The children loved looking at all the Halloween and Autumn displays 👻.

We did some counting using Pumpkins as well 🎃.

Also they got a sneak peek at their Christmas displays 🎄.

When we got home the children did some pumpkin paintings 🎨.

Despite the drizzle in the air, the Little Explorers got out and about locally this morning.

We had a lovely walk around the Canal & Flashes.

Along the way, the children got to feed the Swans & Ducks. The adults did to and there’s always something about feeding them what gives you flash backs of core memories in your childhood.

We also saw a Bee collecting it’s pollen.

The Little Explorers went on a road trip to Avenham Park and Miller’s Park.

We explored the pathways around them. Lots of walking and big hills to climb.

We went over the newly re constructed tram bridge and looked at the views of the River Ribble.

A wet & windy morning turned into an adventure at Alexandra Park for the Little Explorers.

The children got their coats and wellies on.

We hunted for conkers. The children learnt how to identify what a conker tree looks like by looking at the leaves etc.

They collected some conkers to take home with them to add to our loose parts area. The children wanted to make a Dinosaur enclosure with them.

We also counted them. Obviously we didn’t take them all as the Squirrels need them for Autumn & Winter.

We had a talk about the seasonal changes and saw the leaves of trees beginning to change colour.

This morning Little Explorers went to Mesnes Park to feed the Ducks.

The children got to learn the difference between a female duck & male duck.

We had a lovely walk around with the sun having burnt through the early morning fog.

They had some lovely colourful flower displays.

Also we couldn’t go Mesnes Park without rubbing the ‘lucky’ shoe for good luck.

The Little Explorers went to their favourite local park, St James’ School Park.

The children had lots of fun. From climbing & sliding to swinging & running.

They even practised their shapes. We’d say a shape and the children had to find something on the park what resembled that shape. They did really well.

Here at Little Explorers the children get hands on learning through our fun adventures.

We asked the Little Explorers what they wanted to do today and they said to go to Wigan Libraries.

We returned their books that they had borrowed last time.

The children then chose a book they wanted to read.

They then had story time which also involved a counting book.

Before leaving, the children then chose some new books to borrow and take back home with them.

A bit of a different post today. On some local social media pages / groups there has been some big news.

The council are making a brand new play area in the Hawkley Hall Area. The plans look amazing.

And not just that but the council are also re-vamping St James’ Park as well.

Exciting times for the Little Explorers.

This morning the Little Explorers had a trip to Golden Days Garden Centre & Maidenhead Aquatics.

The children looked at all the Autumn and Halloween Displays / Ornaments. We played who can spot….. game.

A good thing about this place is that there is an aquatics shop next door so it would be rude not to have a nosey around there.

They have lots of different types of fish here. From tiny ones to massive ones. Some of the tank set ups look amazing and the children loved it.

Also they had stick insects, crabs and spiders for sale.
