What are your qualifications?
I have a First class honours in English, passed my PGCE with a Distinction and received a grading of Outstanding at QTS.
How experienced are you?
I have been teaching for 7 years now and have worked with a wide range of young people in that time. I am also an examiner for AQA, which gives me a greater insight into exam guidance and the best ways to ensure success.
How much will it cost me?
I very much want to provide an affordable service. A quick look at websites such as Tutorful show that a qualified English teacher is charging between £40 and £90 per hour.
Face to face sessions - £35 p/h
Online sessions via Teams - £25 p/h
A block of 5 face to face sessions - £150 (saving £25)
A block of 5 online sessions - £110 (saving £15)
A block of 10 face to face sessions - £300 (saving £50)
A block of 10 online sessions - £215 (saving £35)
Online tutoring is more cost effective due to minimising travel costs and the use of digital resources as opposed to hard copies.
What will each session consist of?
Prior to the first session, I will send a questionnaire to help me identify key areas of concern and to help me begin building a picture of who your child is and how they learn best. The main aim of this is to ensure that sessions are individually tailored so that not a minute is wasted.
The content of the sessions will depend on areas of concern but there will sometimes be pre-reading to be completed before the session and an opportunity to consolidate learning through independent work that I can use to inform future sessions.
How many sessions will be needed?
This will differ for each student.
