We also said farewell to Mrs Jones and Miss Siwiaki on Friday as they go on to pastures new, and to Mrs Schofield as she begins her maternity leave. We wish them all well and look forward to meeting the new Baby Schofield when he/she arrives. Our final sad goodbye goes to our wonderful Class of 2026. You have had an amazing time at primary school and no doubt will be great at secondary school and beyond. Your St. John's family will always be there for you in the future should you need it. Remember, Once St. John's, always St. John's.

Yesterday we said a very sad farewell to Mr Speakman as he retired from teaching following a career that spanned over 30 years. He first joined us here at St. John's, as headteacher, at Christmas 2009 so we feel it is a well deserved rest. He asked to pass on this message:
As I have reached the end of my time at St. John’s, I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for the incredibly kind words, thoughtful cards, generous gifts and best wishes I have received over the past few days. Your kindness has meant more to me than I can ever adequately express.
It has been the greatest honour and privilege to serve as Headteacher of this wonderful school for the past sixteen and a half years. St. John’s has been far more than just a workplace to me; it has been a second family, a community that I have been proud to be part of every single day.
As I reflect on my time here, I do so with immense gratitude and countless happy memories. I have had the privilege of working alongside dedicated staff, supportive governors, wonderful families and members of our wider community, all united by a shared commitment to providing the very best for our children.
Most importantly, I would like to thank the children, past and present, who have brought such joy, laughter, energy and inspiration to each day. Watching generations of young people learn, grow and flourish has been both humbling and rewarding, and I will carry those memories with me always.
Together, we have celebrated successes, overcome challenges and created a school community built on love, care, respect and a genuine commitment to one another. I am incredibly proud of all that we have achieved and of the positive difference St. John’s continues to make in the lives of so many people.
Although saying goodbye is never easy, I leave with complete confidence in the future of our school. Under new leadership, I know that St. John’s will continue to thrive, grow and build upon the strong foundations that make it such a special place.
While my chapter at St. John’s is coming to an end, the school will always hold a special place in my heart. I hope our paths cross again in the years ahead and that we will be able to share fond memories of the time we spent together.
Thank you for allowing me the privilege of being part of your lives and of leading this remarkable school. I will always look back on my years at St. John’s with great pride, deep affection and immense gratitude.

Yesterday, during transition, our Year 6 class took a trip down memory lane and went right back to where it all started - Reception!

Huge congratulation to our netball team as they achieved third place in the WOWS Netball League. What an amazing team you are.🥉

Pizza, cake, limbo, games and some very dubious dance moves. What more could our Y6 need for their end of year disco? 🤣

Now for the Key Stage 2 performances. We had so many different talents including riddles, sign language, football skills and drawing. They all certainly kept us entertained!

We had a great day yesterday watching all of the different acts from Reception to Year 6. Look out as we will be posting snippets of each performance over the next couple of days.

Last week, our Music Theatre Group put on a wonderful show with their version of 'Oliver'. The children sang beautifully, acted confidently and made every single person proud.
