๐SEND Support Practitioner | St Helens | 2:1 Community Support
We're looking for a SEND Support Practitioner to join one of our current provisions in St Helens, working alongside an experienced Nurture Teacher to provide 2:1 support to a young person.
This isn't a traditional classroom-based TA role.
You'll be supporting a young person in a community setting, helping them access activities, engage with learning, build confidence and develop greater independence.
The key to this role is relationship.
We're looking for someone who is calm, patient, consistent and genuinely enjoys getting to know a young person โ understanding their needs, interests and what helps them feel safe and engaged.
You'll work closely with the Nurture Teacher as part of a small team, so you're not expected to manage the provision alone.
โจ What you'll be doing:
โข Supporting a young person with SEND on a 2:1 basis
โข Working alongside our Nurture Teacher
โข Supporting learning and engagement in the community
โข Building a positive and trusting relationship
โข Supporting emotional regulation and confidence
โข Encouraging communication, independence and social development
โข Helping the young person access new experiences and environments
โข Sharing observations and updates with the wider specialist team
We're looking for someone with experience of working with children or young people with SEND and/or SEMH. Experience of autism, anxiety, EBSA or complex additional needs would be beneficial.
