It would be a lovely opportunity for children to spend some time away from screens, get creative, make new friends and take home something they’ve made themselves! 🍁💛

🦊 Making multiplication fun at The Clever Fox Club! ✖️🎲
During a recent maths session, my learner and I were exploring multiplication, but, of course, we couldn’t just sit down and work through a page of questions! 😉
We started with a simple multiplication dice game to warm up our brains and get us thinking mathematically. 🎲🧠
Then we introduced playing cards to create the numbers in our multiplication problems. This added an element of surprise to each question and meant we never quite knew what challenge was coming next! 🃏✨
We then played “Who can get the answer the quickest?” ⏱️ We explored different methods for working out each calculation, encouraging my learner to think about which strategy worked best for them.
It was a great opportunity to practise multiplication while also developing mental maths, problem-solving, fluency and confidence.
Because maths learning doesn't have to mean endless worksheets! 📚❌
Sometimes a little competition, a pack of cards and some dice can make learning so much more engaging. 🦊💛

🦊 Who says phonics has to happen sitting at a desk? 📚✨
At The Clever Fox Club, we love to get little learners moving!
This learner is currently working on recognising their letter sounds, so today we turned it into a fun game of ‘Find the Sound!’ 🔤
We used BIG jumps to find the correct letters — meaning we were not only practising our sounds, but developing our gross motor skills, coordination, balance and body control along the way! 🤸‍♀️💪
Learning doesn’t always need to look like sitting at a table with a pencil. ✏️ Sometimes, movement, play and a little bit of fun can be the perfect way to help children engage, remember and build confidence in their learning. 💛
And those big jumps definitely made this phonics lesson a lot more exciting! 🦊✨

🎮 Fortnite + Maths = The perfect combination!➕🧮

One of my learners is a huge Fortnite fan, so today's maths lesson was built entirely around something they love!

We played a Fortnite-inspired maths board game, where every move around the board came with a maths challenge. Along the way, we collected loot chests, building materials, shields and bonus rewards, making each question feel like part of the game rather than "just maths."

To develop number sense even further, we collected coins throughout the game and used concrete resources to represent each player's total. We then compared the amounts by adding and subtracting to work out who had more coins and by how many. Using practical resources alongside the game helped to make the maths visual, meaningful and fun.

This is a great example of how I adapt my sessions to each child's interests. By bringing something they're passionate about into the lesson, engagement increases, confidence grows and learning becomes something they genuinely look forward to.

Learning through play, following children's interests and making maths memorable is what tutoring is all about. 💙🎮✨

✨ **Story Building in Action!** ✨

One of my online learners and I are currently creating our very own story, and it's been amazing to see their ideas come to life! 📖💭

We started by creating a mind map to describe our characters, exploring their personalities, appearance, and unique qualities. Using these ideas, we then brought our characters to life.

Next, we did the same for our setting, thinking carefully about where our story takes place and adding lots of descriptive detail. Once we had our ideas, we created a picture to help us visualise our setting.

In our next session, we'll begin writing our story, using all the fantastic ideas we've already planned and discussed.

Story writing isn't just about putting words on paper—it's about developing imagination, creativity, vocabulary, planning skills, and confidence.

I can't wait to see where this story takes us! 🌟✍️

🦊 Did you know our phonics lessons don't start with a pencil? ✏️
At The Clever Fox Club, we like to begin our phonics sessions with a game of Dough Disco! 🎶🟡
Dough Disco is a fun, hands-on activity that helps strengthen the fine motor muscles in children's hands and fingers. Developing these muscles is an important step in supporting pencil grip, letter formation, and overall writing skills.
Not only does it prepare little hands for writing, but it's also a fantastic way to get children engaged, focused, and excited for the lesson ahead. Best of all... they absolutely love it! 🥰
Learning should be fun, and sometimes the best progress starts with a little play. 🦊💛

Today’s double tutoring session was full of fun, teamwork, and plenty of maths! 🎲✨

We started with a multiplication warm-up using a deck of cards. Each learner drew two cards to create their multiplication questions, making fact practice engaging and unpredictable. To support my younger learner, we used a multiplication Pop It as a scaffold, helping her build confidence while developing her recall skills.

Using games and hands-on resources keeps learning enjoyable while meeting each child at their individual level. It's all about making learning accessible, building confidence, and celebrating progress every step of the way. 💙
