Oh today was a tough one! Leavers party to say goodbye to 3 little ones, one of whom has been with me for 4 years!! My heart is full but heavy. It’s one of the hardest parts of this job, your children become YOUR children and knowing that you won’t get to see them every week is just so tough, but also knowing they need this next chapter in their lives. I am always eternally grateful to those who choose me to be in their child’s life and never take it granted the trust parents bestow upon me. So for now little ones, go off and fly but you’ll always have a piece of my heart with you.

This week we’ve been taking advantage of natures air con, with two trips to the woods. The children found the characters from the Wind in the Willows and the Gruffalo and we discussed their parts in their books, pointing to their descriptions and homes. The children loved using the woods to play in dens, climb trees, jump from fallen trees and find the best sticks.
We also took a trip to a soft play and the children worked together to play football, making sure to share when new children wanted to join.
To round up the week we’ve learned the sound W by getting very wet, splashing in water, we stuck bugs to a sellotape web and built walls together with mega blocks. Lots of learning and lots of fun. Fingers crossed for a cooler week coming….

It’s been an action packed week for the mega Minding kids this week.

The children have been back to the pool, we talked about water safety, how to jump in safely and climb back using our strong arm muscles. We were starfish and deep sea divers!

We went to the farm and saw donkeys with eye and ear protection. The children are always inquisitive so we asked lots of questions to the farmer about why they needed these. The children also saw a digger in action which was definitely a highlight of the week!

We’ve been to the aquarium and watched the beautiful jellyfish and talked about how they swim without fins. We also roared like dinosaurs and wondered what kind of zoo could keep them if they roamed the world today!

The children also learned some amazing new tricks and did lots of hanging around on the various equipment at gymnastics!

Wow what a scorcher last week was! But we still managed to enjoy the days both inside and out. We visited the farm to make sure all the animals were well fed and hydrated. We saw so many new baby guinea pigs, lambs and goats and we talked about how the mummy’s must be very hungry looking after their babies all day. We had soft play visits, where some children learned new skills and overcame fears, and others looked after their friends and supported their adventures. We also had lots of fun splashing around in the garden, washing animals in the water tuff tray, having water fights and jumping into the paddling pool. When it all got too much, we made the most of the lovely air con in the playhouse, where we practiced scissor skills making a birthday card, and learned about volcanos when we looked at the sound V.

This week we’ve been able to really enjoy to beautiful weather. We went to the country park to feed the birds, and talked about how to to stay safe from the waters edge by making a safety line that we do not cross. The children really worked on their throw and managed to get their bird feed so far out to the pond so no goslings got left behind!
We went to Hyde hall and the children had the best time rolling around and feeling the soft grass under their bare feet, and looking out for butterflies and bees feeding from all the beautiful flowers.
On our home learning day we sounded out the U sound by putting up, and playing under umbrellas while trying to drench each other with the hose. The children also went fishing for underwater animals, talking about and comparing their finds.

Last weeks adventures took us to the library for a boogie and story, and to the soft play after where a child managed to overcome and obstacle they’ve been struggling with 🎉.
We learned about the lifecycle of a strawberry and picked the best cherries when we went fruit picking, and said hello to the farm animals after.
We found Nemo at the aquatic centre and picked out the best bugs to feed the 🐸 when we got home. We also visited a park where two children challenged themselves to complete new skills running up a slide🤩! We also had a day at home learning the sound T with songs, parachute games and using tongs to work on pincer grip, the children also built a play campfire with one managing to balance 3 beams to create a tripod barbecue. Let’s see what this week has in store at Mega Minding!
