Last Saturday we were over in West Barnes, East Lothian delivering our workshops for the Dunbar ASN Community Collective - SCIO.

We had another good session and we created our burger in a bun. Inspired by a burger seen before it was suggested we even added an onion ring and then someone suggested adding a wee flag. ๐Ÿค” ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

It is this type of project that shows how you can start with a model and change it by adding different things to it. 3D Design can open up many opportunities. You just need the patience and wiliness to learn some new skills to start with and who knows what you will be doing next.

In employment you could have a team all collaborating on the same project, but the project manager might not agree with the end design and it could be up to the designer to then change that design to what is required and come up with a slightly different design.

It was great to see the happy faces at the end, when they could see what they had achieved. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ‘

Well Done to you all. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

Over the last few months, we have been very busy out across North Lanarkshire and it seems we have been making a real difference. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ‘

We delivered our workshops in New Stevenson, Newmains and St Bridgidโ€™s Primary Schools, Cardinal Newman High School, Holy Cross Primary School in Croy. ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ˜€

We were contacted by North Lanarkshire Carers Together to see if we could support one of their families who was not engaging in School. The young pupil had not been in school for the whole of S2 but had a keen interest in aeronautical engineering. We made a positive impact with this pupil as they are now back in school on a part-time table. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

As part of this funding, we were also asked to deliver our workshops at Woodlands Park High School in Wishaw. We met some more amazing individuals. We also have other ASN cluster schools in North Lanarkshire looking to engage with us in the future, especially if we can secure more funding. ๐Ÿคž

In Cumbernauld we reached out to Cumbernauld & Carbrain Community Hub about venue hire. We had a young person whose mental health was impacted due to working from home after Covid. He is a brilliant person and we also hope to be able to employ him in the future, when we secure a suitable premises.

The Hub is a fantastic little organisation and doing amazing work in Cumbernauld. From our initial conversation with them, they too had families who needed our support. We engaged with a primary pupil who was not in school and once again, he seemed to be enjoying the activities he was taking part in. We would like to say a big Thank you to Frances, Suzie at the hub for their wonderful hospitality and we hope to be able to support their community in the future. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Now as we enter the Summer Holiday season Liz and I are taking the summer months off, other than a few workshops we have booked in Dunbar in East Lothian. The last 6 months have been an amazing experience and the funding we received has once again opened up more opportunities for us. ๐Ÿค”

We have met some amazing and talented individuals, all unique in their own way, but have so much to offer in terms of creativity and unique skills.

Funded by the Fairer Futures Partnership Tackling Poverty & ASN Fund - North Lanarkshire

As part of our funded sessions, over the last four weeks we were over at the Newmains & St Brigidโ€™s Community Hub. We delivered BlocksCAD workshops to 20 children 10 from Newmains Primary and 10 from St. Brigidโ€™s Primary. The children were from a range of ages from Primary 3 through to Primary 7.

Even from the first session, we could see there was some really talented individuals, however each child was unique in their own way. We wanted to share some of the designs that the children created on the last session from the skills they had learnt during the four weeks.

On the last week, we took in our 3D printer and printed off their name tags for them.

Back in March, Budding Engineers CIC delivered their first ever workshop in a Glasgow School. We delivered four sessions on the day at Wallacewell Primary School in Robroyston, with all the pupils using their iPads.

We have just received their report back from the school and we wanted to share it with you all.

Some of the teachers said they had several ASN pupils in the Class that they didnโ€™t think would engage in the activity, and they were surprised they did, and thoroughly enjoyed it.

You may have noticed that we have been quiet on our socials for a while. Well, a lot has been happening and Liz and I are being kept busy with our funded workshops at the moment. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ‘

Over the last four weeks we have been taking regular trips over to Inverclyde. We have been running three workshops weekly for some amazing individuals over at the OOR CLUBR in Greenock.

Since we started on the 22nd of April we have now completed 12 workshops with 30 individuals, all unique and talented in their own way. All the groups created the same models and the enjoyment that Liz and I have had has been really rewarding. Seeing the smiles on their faces and listening to what they are being taught has all helped to make this a great experience. You only have to see for yourselves, some of the excitement on their faces.

Every single person has tried their hardest and all achieved some great results. A Massive Well Done to you all. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

Last June we met Michelle over at an event in Greenock organised by the ASN Parent and Carer Group Inverclyde. We popped along just after the event to the ORR Club to give a wee presentation about what we were about. Michelle then managed to get funding to bring us in and deliver our workshops. So, we would also like to say a big Thank you to Michelle for making this happen and engaging with us. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

Over the last three days, we have met some amazing individuals, each with their own talents and skills. Liz Kerr and I are really enjoying engaging with these members of the OOR CLUB.

All of the three groups created our model cup with and without a handle.

We are both very much looking forward to next weeks sessions to create some more models with everyone. ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€

End of week 1 CAD workshop with the Budding Engineers. Across the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday groups we have managed to get 30 members involved with 3D design and printing.
The budding engineers are going to be with us for 4 weeks looking forward to the next few weeks of learning. ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’œ
