FAST HANDS đđ»
Very simple but effective drill to start the session to help try to work on getting his hands through the ball. This paired with some technical points helped his pull shot develop nicely over the session.

PLAY LATE đŠ
A very simple drill to get players waiting for the ball and playing late. Simply set out stumps or cones and ask players to make the ball bounce before it reaches the target.
This ensure players hit the ball late and under their eyes!
LOOKING TO SCORE VS SPIN đ«
Not allowing a spinner get into a rhythm by using the crease, footwork and a variety of scoring options is vital.
Donât just let the spinner âbowl at youâ, pick your scoring areas and commit to your plan
FOOT ALIGNMENT đж
When looking to deliver the ball, players often end up either âclosed offâ or âtoo openâ.
This drill here is a very simple drill to work on getting head, feet and momentum going towards the target.
Initially, watch the bowler deliver a few balls and then roughly place cones where the back foot is consistently landing.
After this, use a second batch of cones for the bowler to land their front foot alongside.
Finally, the last batch of cones is there to analyse the back leg drive of the bowler and to look at where the momentum leads them after the ball is bowled.
Have a try!
RAMP SHOT!
Young county player William attempted to play the ramp in one of our game scenario sessions. When looking back at the footage we picked up on some points that might help him play it better.
Firstly, âstaying in the shotâ. In the first attempt he isnât fully commit to the shot therefore meaning he didnât get in line with the ball.
Leading on from that, his head position in the first shot was heading towards point, whereas, in the second shot his head stays in line with the ball for longer until he makes contact.
Finally, he is much more stable at the crease in the second attempt. Meaning that he has a balanced base to attempt the shot.
Happy ramping!

CRICKET IS BACK! đ
Was a pleasure as always working with Simon Willis, ex Sri Lanka and Kent High Performance Manager giving me a few key tips to help my own game as well as tips I can pass on to others.
This page has been created to help document young cricketers development, as well as help educate aspiring cricketers on drills and tips to help improve their game however I just thought it would be good to have a quick post to show what I am working on.
Please get it touch if interested in any 1:1 sessions! I will be uploading clips and drills as frequently as possible.
Stay safe and enjoy the cricket to come âđ»
