Each week was tailored to her needs and each session was designed to be relaxed but also provide some challenge too!

Hello everyone!
I hope you have all had a good first day back for the new term and not tired.

I now have my diary open again for tutoring sessions. These can be 1-1 sessions or if preferred I can do group sessions

For my new followers a bit about me:
I have a teaching degree for primary education. I took the decision to step back from teaching but still follow the curriculum developments.
I provide primary curriculum support mostly maths and literacy. I can do sessions from my own home or come to your house - extra cost for this.

Times tables are one of the main skills children need to learn during their time at Primary school as they are the foundations for further learning. Sometimes putting just numbers in front of a child can be quite daunting, so why not make it more fun and create pictures.

Also have a learning space for children to make and display an learning posters they want or make to help build their confidence when it comes to independent homework etc.

Hello Easter Holidays!!!!

I am still working and tutoring during the holidays. I have one student who is having a self-study week with activities to work on and then we will follow up at our next session next week.

These activities will include focus areas we are working on and also basic operations practice and mental maths.

An area I really enjoy working on with children during maths sessions is using their mental knowledge but also showing them how they are doing their mental maths as sometimes children can do things "in their heads" but not really understand what it is they are doing. This is key when moving on to high school as they are required to show workings especially when it comes to exams.

Did you know there are so many different strategies for the 4 operations in maths?

One thing I really focus on in sessions is showing children different ways of calculating. This allows different learners the opportunity to explore maths from a different angle!

Great first session with a new pupil last night.
The first sessions are always much more relaxed and use to get to know each other and set up the learning and activity apps I like to use. Aims and goals were set along with some mindset work too!
We started by looking at timetables and some of the tricks to help you work them out and the little girl was so excited.
It was a very rewarding hour and I love to see how excited children are once we finish sessions.

Each child has their own targets and aims, whether it be helping boost confidence or filling in the gaps of things they might find difficult.
I adapt every lesson to suit each child.

😁Just some questions some people may have when deciding whether to start tutoring their child...😁

• How long have you been tutoring?
💥I was tutoring for just over a year before covid, online and face to face.

• What are your qualifications, certifications, or credentials?
💥I have a BEd Primary (HONS) and a range of experiences working with children from 3-12.

• What’s your expertise in the content area my child is studying?
💥I am up to date on the curriculum and any developments. I have experience teaching both maths and literacy and access to a variety of resources suitable to each child's needs

• Have you worked before with kids or adults who have trouble with the same skills as my child?
💥Each child will be treated indivually and assessed on what their needs are. This can be determined through assessment or feedback from the child's teacher.

• What strategies have you found help most when you start to work with a child?
💥I like to get to know the child and make them comfortable. It's always good to find what techniques work best for children too so this can also help their learning.

• How will you communicate with me, and how often?
💥I will keep a record of each session and report back after each session. I can also write reports if evidence I needed elsewhere

• How will you work and communicate with my child’s teachers?
💥I will work alongside teachers if they recommend specific areas needing development. When asked for evidence or reports I can do this also where necessary

• How long is each tutoring session?
💥Sessions can range between 30 minutes to 90 minutes.
Block booking is available at discounted costs also.

• What’s your policy for cancellations and make-up sessions?
💥Sessions will incur a 50% charge if cancelled less than 24hrs.

HI everyone,
I am opening up my books again for maths and literacy support for primary aged children.
I am an ex teacher who still would love to help children develop their learning.

I can tailor sessions to each child based on assessments or feedback from schools should you wish. I will be solely focusing on literacy and maths.

Dependent on what your aims are, blocks can be organised or individual lessons.
I will be doing the lessons from my house in Whithorn or sessions can be organised for your home but the price will need to cover fuel.
