✨ PART THREE: What Exactly Is Face Yoga?

We’ve talked about looking after our bodies through strength, movement, mobility and flexibility… but what about our faces?

In Part Three of our Restore & Radiance series, Jeanette introduces us to Face Yoga and some of the simple techniques we can use to exercise, relax and care for the muscles in our face.

Just like the rest of our body, our face has muscles too, and Face Yoga is a lovely, natural way to give them a little attention. 🥰

For those of us who are curious about looking after our skin and appearance as we get older, but perhaps aren’t quite ready for treatments such as Botox or other more invasive cosmetic options, Face Yoga can be a gentle and accessible place to start.

And there’s something else we really like about it…

It encourages us to actually stop for a few minutes and do something for ourselves. ❤️

At our Restore & Radiance: Twilight Wellness Experience, Jeanette from Amethyst Beauty will be guiding us through Face Yoga alongside facial massage and lymphatic drainage techniques that you can continue using at home.

No pressure. No perfection. Just practical ways to look after ourselves, feel good and enjoy a little well-deserved self-care. ✨

🎥 Have a watch of Part Three to find out more.

✨ PART TWO: Investing in Your Future Self

Yesterday, we talked about why movement becomes increasingly important as we move through our 30s, 40s and beyond.

In Part Two, we dig a little deeper into strength, mobility and flexibility, and why maintaining these things now can make such a difference to how we live later in life.

We also talk about falls and some of the statistics might surprise you. Falling becomes increasingly common as we age, but there are things we can do now to help reduce our risk by keeping our bodies strong, mobile, balanced and capable.

But this isn’t really a video about falling.

It’s about investing in your future self. ❤️

It’s about giving yourself the best possible chance of continuing to do the things that matter to you as you get older.

✈️ Travelling and exploring new places
🪜 Taking the stairs without thinking twice
💪 Staying strong and independent
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Getting down on the floor to play with your grandchildren
🚶 Walking, carrying, reaching and moving confidently
❤️ Simply being able to enjoy everyday life on your own terms

So many of these things are easy to take for granted now.

Looking after our bodies isn’t just about how we look today. It’s about what we want our bodies to still be able to do in 10, 20 or 30 years’ time.

That’s a big part of the thinking behind our Restore & Radiance: Twilight Wellness Experience this October.

🎥 Have a watch of Part Two and let us know what you think.

✨ Restore & Radiance: Why movement matters as we get older | Part 1

We’re certainly not old in our 30s and 40s! 😅 But this can be a time when we start to notice a few changes in our bodies, from little aches and pains to changes in mobility, strength and flexibility.

As we move through perimenopause, menopause and beyond, looking after our bodies through regular movement becomes increasingly important.

In Part 1 of this short series, we chat about why movement, mobility, flexibility and strength all matter, and why what we do now can make such a difference to how we feel and function in the years ahead.

These are some of the ideas behind the Strength in Movement workshop that we’ll be delivering together at our Restore & Radiance event.

👀 Coming up in Part 2: we’re talking about falls, including some statistics that might genuinely surprise you, and why the work we do now can help protect our strength, confidence and independence later in life.

✨ Interested in joining us at Restore & Radiance?

📅 Friday 16th October
⏰ 6–9pm
📍 Senhouse Centre, Whitehaven

We only have a few tickets remaining now, so if you’ve been thinking about joining us, don’t leave it too long.

💚 Would you come on a retreat by yourself?

For some women, the answer is an immediate yes.

For others, the thought of arriving for a whole weekend without knowing anybody can feel a little daunting.

So we wanted to reassure you…

You absolutely don’t need to bring someone with you to our Longevity Retreat.

You’ll be spending the weekend with a small group of like-minded women, enjoying movement, inspiring workshops, spa time, delicious food, relaxation and plenty of opportunities to chat, laugh and get to know each other.

We’ve also deliberately built plenty of downtime into the weekend.

So you can be sociable when you want to be, enjoy some quiet time when you don’t, and hopefully leave on Sunday having made some new connections and perhaps even new friends.

And if walking through the door alone feels slightly outside your comfort zone?

Sometimes doing something completely for yourself can feel rather good. 🌿

🌿 We invest in our homes. Our holidays. Our families. Our careers.

But when was the last time you deliberately invested in you?

Not another thing to own, but an experience that gives something back to you.

As we get older, looking after ourselves becomes more important, not less.

Our strength matters.
Our mobility matters.
Our health matters.
Our confidence matters.
Our personal safety matters.
And sometimes, simply having the time to stop, breathe and recharge matters too.

That’s exactly why we created the Longevity Retreat.

For one weekend, we’re bringing all of those things together:

🌿 Pilates-inspired Strength in Movement
🌿 Morning movement & mobility
🌿 Women’s health & menopause workshops
🌿 Everyday Safe personal safety
🌿 Our Love vs Fear workshop
🌿 Meditation, relaxation & group Reiki
🌿 Spa and leisure time
🌿 Delicious food
🌿 Two nights in a beautiful spa hotel
🌿 Time to meet like-minded women, connect and perhaps make some new friends
🌿 And plenty of time that’s simply yours

But we don’t want the benefits of the weekend to end when you check out on Sunday.

We want you to leave feeling rested and recharged, but also take home new knowledge, practical skills, greater confidence, new connections and ideas that you can continue using in everyday life.

A retreat like this is an investment in yourself, but it’s about so much more than one weekend away.

It’s an opportunity to invest in your health, your wellbeing, new experiences and, perhaps most importantly, some dedicated time for yourself.

If you’ve been looking at our retreat and thinking “I’d absolutely love to do that one day”…

Perhaps February could be your time. 💚

💚 ONE SMALL CHANGE: Get stronger while the kettle boils

When we think about healthy ageing, we often think about walking more, eating well or looking after our heart.

But there’s another piece of the puzzle that’s incredibly important…

Maintaining our strength. 💪

As we get older, preserving muscle strength helps us continue doing the everyday things we often take for granted: getting out of a chair, climbing stairs, carrying shopping and staying active and independent.

And strength training doesn’t necessarily mean spending hours in a gym.

☕ THE KETTLE CHALLENGE

Every time you put the kettle on today, perform 10 slow, controlled sit-to-stands from a sturdy chair.

Try not to use your hands if you’re able to do so comfortably and safely.

Three cuppas? That’s 30 extra repetitions added to your day without having to find a separate half-hour to exercise.

Too easy? Instead of sitting fully down, lightly touch or hover just above the chair before standing again. Or progress to controlled bodyweight squats without the chair.

It sounds almost too simple, but that’s the point.

Small habits are much easier to maintain when we attach them to something we already do every day.

At Longevity Labs, we’re interested in the little things we can do now that may help us move better, feel stronger and enjoy more life in our years. 🌿

Give the Kettle Challenge a go today!

Have you ever stopped to think about what someone dangerous actually looks like?

Most of us imagine someone who appears aggressive, intimidating or suspicious.

The reality is often very different.

In this latest Everyday Safe Conversation, we explore why judging people purely by appearances can sometimes leave us vulnerable, and why kindness and personal safety don’t have to be opposites.

We’re not saying don’t help people. In fact, we’d encourage kindness whenever possible. The key is to ask yourself one simple question:

“What’s the safest way I can help?”

Sometimes that means getting someone else involved, staying in a public place or creating a few simple safety measures before stepping in.

We’d genuinely love to hear your thoughts…

Do you think we’re too quick to judge people by how they appear, or not quick enough to recognise behaviours that matter?

If you’d like to explore these ideas in more depth, find out more about our Everyday Safe workshops using the link in the first comment

Our next public workshop is a women’s-only event, with future workshops planned for everyone.
