As we are almost at Cambridge for tomorrow’s competition, we are reflecting on what has been quite the journey so far.
Last week we had the honour of being invited to RAICo 1 in Whitehaven to present what we have done as a group so far.
We are unbelievably proud to be sponsored by Sellafield LTD. and supported by ATOS. It was a joy to meet their staff who shared advice and wished us the best of luck. It was also great to experience some of the mind blowing technology that they use.
It’s amazing to be associated with these companies and we are completely honoured to be working with them!
A huge thank you to Sellafield Ltd and Atos for their conintued support and best wishes.
We can’t wait to do everyone proud tomorrow.

Yesterday, a small group of Year 8 and 9 students went to a STEM day at the University of Cumbria, Lancaster campus. Students worked well with students from other schools to complete three tasks, with great success. Tommy and Charlie won the prize in the robotics challenge; Gracie and George came top in the E-FIT challenge. Fantastic work!
They also got a taste of the different courses run by the university and took part in a Q&A session with current and past university students, which was really interesting.
Feedback from students
'Today was an amazing experience at the University of Cumbria and was very interesting...We had to work with other schools and that helped us improve our social skills' Tommy
'Today was a good day, the activities were fun and the opportunity was great. My favourite part was the robotics which I won a prize in...the staff were brilliant'

Some of our year 10 geographers were out at St Bees this week completing their GCSE fieldwork.
They used different equipment and various data collection methods to investigate how physical processes affect the coast. We also looked at some of the coastal management strategies used along this coastline.
Good progress on our community forest project yesterday with Nathan from Raise Cumbria.
We planted rowan, alder, ash and oak. We also planted ‘Carlos’ the conker (horse chestnut) tree as a response to the fact that we don’t have any of these trees around school.
Hopefully, we will have a good supply of conkers in about 20 years.
