🚶‍♀️🚲 Keeping Everyone Safe on the Journey to School 🚲🚶‍♂️

As many of our pupils and families walk, cycle or scoot to and from school each day, we would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone about the importance of travelling safely and showing consideration for other pavement and road users.

The areas around school can be particularly busy during drop-off and collection times. Whether you are walking, cycling or scooting, please remember to:

✅ Travel at a safe and sensible speed
✅ Be aware of younger children and other pedestrians
✅ Give people plenty of space when passing
✅ Slow down in crowded areas and dismount once you enter our gates
✅ Follow road and pedestrian safety rules at all times

We are delighted to see so many families choosing active travel and with a little care and consideration from everyone, we can help make the journey to and from school safe and enjoyable for all.

Thank you for your continued support.

Welcome to our very first Year Group of the Month!

Each month, we’ll be shining a little spotlight on one of our year groups and sharing some of the fun, learning and special moments happening in their classrooms.

Our first year group are the amazing P1s :)

What a busy first month it has been for our newest little learners! 💛

September has been all about settling into school, making new friends, exploring our new surroundings and, of course, having lots of fun along the way!

Our P1 children have been playing, investigating, counting, writing, creating, exploring and learning every day. From busy classrooms to exciting new discoveries, there has never been a dull moment!

We are so proud of how brilliantly our P1 children have settled into school life and we have loved watching their little personalities shine. 🌟

In June as a community we sadly bid farewell to several valued colleagues including Miss Sonia Kidd, our Vice Principal, whose service in our school spanned a period of over 37 years. Also Mrs Julie Beggs who retired following over 30 years teaching. These colleagues will be fondly remembered by all of us who worked alongside both ladies and by our children who have been fortunate enough to have been in their care. We wish the two ladies a long, happy and healthy retirement.

We are once again taking part in the 2026 RAF Wings Appeal this September! By purchasing the little metal badges going on sale next week, our families are supporting the appeal that supports RAF veterans and their families receive the care and support they need. One of our past Principals, Mr Tom Long was an RAF Squadron Leader during the Second World War, so we continue to support this charity and thank everyone who contributes and helps us make a positive difference.

Also this month, on Thursday 24th September, we are having a School House themed Non Uniform Day when our children can come into school dressed in anything that reflects their School House colours. We have four houses Johnston, Kane, Wright and Young.

Small enamel metal badges for the various School Houses can also be worn at anytime on our school uniform. These are not compulsory, but are available to purchase online via the ParentMail shop for current families or through the school office for any of our past pupils looking for a memory. at Whiteabbey Primary School
