Well it’s been emotional… it’s hard to believe that a whole academic year has passed already. Thinking of all their achievements, large and small ( but actually the small ones were still huge) is quite astonishing and makes us feel really proud🥰 We hope you’re proud of yourselves too🧡
What a beautiful bunch, all different and all capable of doing the best thing ever-making us laugh everyday; it doesn’t get much better than that🙌- well actually, maybe an England win🤷‍♀️(I’m convinced we lost because we didn’t sing wonderwall that day, blame us not Tuchel!!)😞
We’d also like to say a massive, huge thank you for your kind and generous gifts and words. Your thought and appreciation was and is beyond lovely- thank you so much 🧡🩷🧡
Gushy sentiment incomming…😬🤷‍♀️🙈
A big thank you to all of the grown ups who work at West Cliff, each and everyone. I think this term has shown just how committed they are to the children, school and each other 🩷 This is something Mr Long noted in todays leavers assembly ( which was beautiful, Super Seals🧡)
We weren’t just saying farewell to the Seals today, we also said a sad farewell to Miss Tout. Of course she has already been snapped up by another school because she is blooming marvellous; a loss for us but a massive gain for that school🌟
And so it’s a funny time of year, sad that it’s ended but happy and hopeful for all that’s to come. We wish you a truly wonderful summer, it’s a long one so pace yourselves! As parents we put so much pressure on ourselves, just let it be known that the best fun the “Guffins” have had this year has been with a hosepipe and a cardboard box! Often it’s the simplest things that bring the most joy (my husband often says that’s why he married me🤷‍♀️)

Honestly, thank you so much🥰 Hopefully we’lll see you out and about and if not, we’ll see you in September (Wednesday 9th). Big love🧡🩷🩷🧡🩷

🦭Team Seal 2025-26 - that’s a wrap!🦭
What a wonderful day we have had celebrating our wonderful bunch of Seals! We’ve enjoyed Botham’s cakes, t-shirt signing and finished with a superb leavers’ assembly. We wish all of our Year 6s the best of luck for their next adventure and can’t wait to hear how they get on.
I am overwhelmed by all of the kind words, messages and gifts (I admit to having shed a tear or two) - thank you all so very much.
Have a wonderful summer! ☀️

Who wants some more cycling? We do! Our next-door neighbours Whitby Pump Track are holding a Regatta Event on Sunday 9th August! It will be great to see some of our pupils there, and feel free to have a chat with some of West Cliff Staff, who will be helping out at the event!

It's less than a month now until the Regatta Pump and Jump jam and we're getting pretty stoked

kicking off from 12, we've got Limbo and timed laps on the pump track followed by the nail biting high jump challenge on the skatepark.

We also have Shreds 11 and Richardson cycles selling clothing and cycling accessories as well as DOH Whitby slinging fresh pizzas to keep you riding all day.

We've got some fantastic prizes this year from Fox, Bell, Giro, Camelbak and more.

You don't want to miss this, its going to be a banger!

The lost property basket is overflowing with jumpers, coats, water bottles and a variety of other belongings desperate to be reunited with their owners!

With that in mind, there will be a table (or 2) on the playground at the end of the day for you to try and reclaim any long-lost items.

Yesterday, Years 5 and 6 headed to the beach to take on some very exciting challenges - Taskmaster style!
⛳ Create a mini golf hole from beach treasures
🪨 Stack stones to make the tallest tower
🙌 Transfer pebbles from bucket to bucket with absolutely no hands
💧 Fill a bucket with water... without going anywhere near the sea!
Those are just to name a few! There were moments of genius, moments of chaos, and some excellent problem-solving strategies. Most importantly, there was lots of teamwork, laughter and determination! We had a great morning together 🐬🦭😊

🐢 T A S K M A S T E R with White Rose Maths! 🐢

Our Dolphins have had a great time this week delving into Task Master Challenges!
Task 1 was to create a rule for a repeating pattern. Using shapes, numbers or pictures, the children needed to create a pattern that followed a rule. After creating them, they then needed to visit other teams and try to solve their pattern problems!
Task 2 was to create a marble run, which required the marble to roll for a whole 20 seconds. This doesn’t sound very long, but we soon learned how long 20 seconds really is when you’re trying to make a marble keep moving!
We have been so impressed with the problem-solving and teamwork skills of the children. These tasks were quite frustrating at points, but they tried so hard to achieve the task criteria. As always, we’re very proud!
We can’t wait to see how the Dolphins perform in the remaining Task Master challenges!

Our Penguins and Seahorses had a lovely time at Pannett Park this morning! We began our visit by getting into nature. The children chose a single flower or plant to sketch, and then expanded their view to a larger area, making sure to include lots of features of nature in their sketch. We finished by having a few meditative minutes in nature, closing our eyes and listening to the nature that surrounded us. It was a beautiful moment to observe the children getting absorbed in nature and appreciating their surroundings.

And then we went to P L A Y! And what fun was had! Spinning, sliding and swinging until all of our energy was gone.

🌟 Turtle Class at Pannett Park Museum 🌟
This morning, Turtle Class enjoyed a fascinating morning at Pannett Park Museum, where we took over the Explorers Wing and worked with Claire to learn about Captain James Cook and William Scoresby Senior and Junior.
The children were excited to explore Cook's maps and discover how sailors navigated using the stars and a sextant. They were amazed to learn that sailors once relied on these tools to find their way across vast oceans. One child exclaimed, "I can't believe they didn't have sat navs or phones!"
They also learned how a lead line was used to measure the depth of the sea, with several children keen to have a go and find out how it worked. During the artefact scavenger hunt, there were lots of enthusiastic comments such as, "I found it!" and "This feels like being a real explorer!"
The idea of climbing up to the crow's nest sparked plenty of discussion, with some children confidently declaring, "I'd definitely climb up there!" while others decided they were happier keeping both feet firmly on deck!
The visit finished with a wonderful story about Nanny Twice, the goat on the Endeavour, which had the children laughing and asking lots of questions.
It was a fantastic hands-on learning experience, and the children returned to school full of excitement, sharing all the fascinating facts they had discovered. A huge thank you to Claire and the team at Pannett Park Museum for bringing history to life for us. ⚓🗺️⭐🐐
