This is a photograph taken by a very talented former pupil of mine, Elizabeth, who sadly died yesterday from a very rare cancer. Needless to say my heart goes out to her family, her Mum Victoria and her brother, pictured here.

As a music teacher it has always been my aim to teach my students to be musicians and enjoy music rather than to pass exams. Consequently my students are only occasionally entered for a music exam, when they are ready and happy to do so.
In September this year Billie recorded her grade 6 singing exam with me as accompanist and her Mum as camera person. It was a very pleasurable experience - both her Mum and I were close to tears following her exquisite performance. I have just learned that she achieved a distinction with a mark of 93%.
Congratulations Billie on a fantastic performance and a great achievement.

Unfortunately, due to a long-term illness I will not be taking on any new pupils until Summer 2022.

We have been trying out the Trinity online performance exams, I have to congratulate Andre for 90% (a Distinction) in grade 5 piano, Billie for a Merit in grade 5 singing, William for a Merit in grade 6 piano and I have just heard that James achieved a Merit in his Initial Piano grade. We have some more grades to go, but so far I have been very impressed with the balance of the examiners’ comments and their marking.

A pupil who stopped lessons due to COVID-19 is thrilled to be restarting lessons next week online and also starting GCSE Music tuition because it’s not available at school.
I am so pleased to see her back and look forward to lots of singing next Thursday 😁
