Mulgrave Estate The Mulgrave Estate covers approximately 15,000 acres close by to the beautiful and historic of Whitby in North York Moors National Park.

It includes 4 miles of coastline between Sandsend and Runswick Bay and stretches south westwards inland for a distance of approximately 9 miles to Egton. The Estate comprises agricultural land, woodland, residential and commercial properties including holiday cottages, hotels, shops, pubs and restaurants and is the major property stakeholder within the local area. The Estate is managed from the Estate Office which is located in Lythe, one mile north-west of Sandsend.

🌳Mulgrave Estate has completed new woodland planting at Murkside and the first phase of Churchdale, marking an important step in its long-term stewardship of land within the North York Moors National Park. 🌳
Across the two sites, approximately 60 hectares of new woodland have been planted, primarily on areas of lower-quality grazing land, where woodland offered an alternative long-term use in terms of environmental resilience and landscape structure.
The planting has been carefully designed to reflect the character of the National Park—integrating with existing woodland, farmland and open ground, and contributing to a more varied and resilient landscape over time.
