It is very easy at a time of bereavement to gratefully accept the first suggestions made to you, only later to wish you had done things differently. The reassuring difference about choosing a celebrant to lead a funeral service is that they will spend as much time with you as it takes prior to the service, listening to your wishes, hearing your stories and memories, whilst respecting the significa
nce of your grief. They will gain a true sense of the person who has died. They will work alongside you with great care to compose a truly uplifting and bespoke ceremony. The service will reflect the true character and nature of the person who has died, sensitively respecting and acknowledging any challenges they may have faced, whilst remembering all that they were to you. At the service you can participate as much or as little as you wish. You can select significant music, read poetry or include symbolic, religious and spiritual elements. You may wish to speak, share moments of humour and laughter, have moments of reflection. They are your choices. You will be able to check the script beforehand and a transcript of the ceremony will be available for you to keep. Planning a funeral is a daunting task, especially as it usually done in a relatively short period of time and whilst dealing with grief, but generally there is one thing that family and friends have in common – they all want a befitting and special service for their loved one. By telling their unique life story you give meaning to the life that has been lived.
