Suffolk Community Foundation

Suffolk Community Foundation Suffolk Community Foundation awards grants to local charities and community groups, connecting donors and local causes.

Our mission is to change local lives by connecting causes that matter with people who care. Unlike traditional grantmaking trusts and foundations, we develop lasting partnerships with individuals, families, businesses, public bodies and trusts. We work together to ensure that acute areas of need in Suffolk are addressed compassionately, respectfully and sustainably. We are committed to deepening l

evels of engagement in everyone who seeks to change lives and improve futures. We are one of a national family of 46 Community Foundations in the UK. As one of the top five grantmakers in the UK, our combined power and shared passion to make a difference is increasingly influential at the most senior levels and is delivering real and meaningful change. In partnership with our many fundholders, in 2018/19 over £2.7m has been distributed via 665 grants to community groups and charities right across Suffolk.

Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the Dunwich Heath wildfire. We stand in solidarity with those directly impacted and are heartened to see the incredible community response, with so many people coming together to support those most in need during this difficult time.

We are in contact with our partners and are prepared to support charities and voluntary organisations in the area as needs emerge.💜

Jess recently attended the soft launch of the new Level Two Youth Project Beach Street Youth and Community Space.

We're proud that several Suffolk Community Foundation funds have helped make this exciting project possible, including the Port Community Fund.

The innovative two-storey container conversion will provide a safe, welcoming space where young people can take part in creative diversionary activities, helping to build confidence, develop new skills and make positive choices for their future.

The new venue includes dedicated spaces for mentoring and counselling, an open-access youth work area and a kitchen for food preparation and shared activities. Upstairs, young people will have access to creative media, digital technology and music facilities, providing opportunities to explore their interests, develop talents and express themselves creatively.

It was fantastic to have the opportunity to look around this incredible new space ahead of its official opening. We look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on young people in the community and wish the Level Two team every success as they prepare to welcome their first visitors.

Julie was delighted to attend the opening of Green Light Trust's new Castan Centre recently. The centre will compliment the outdoor education and wellbeing programmes for disadvantaged children, young people and adults by providing a safe, inclusive, and inspiring learning space within nature.

It was a wonderful afternoon where guests were shown around the newly-completed building as well as being treated to a stroll around the woods.

Thank you for having us and congratulations on the new building which looks fantastic! 💜

“Everyone is so friendly and we all have great fun each week,”

After moving to Leiston three years ago, Barbara was invited along to the Rose and Sweet William Club by a neighbour. She’s been attending ever since, making new friends and enjoying activities, lunches and coach trips.

We’re delighted that the volunteer-run club for over-60s has received £10,500 from the Sizewell C Community Fund, helping provide transport for people who may otherwise struggle to leave their homes.

The Sizewell C Community Fund will provide up to £23m to local charities, community groups and organisations which are delivering projects that benefit communities located closest to, and most impacted by, Sizewell C development activity sites in East Suffolk.
