We’re going football crazy this week! From matches in the garden, to painting England flags- our Little Peanuts are getting into the spirit of the World Cup! 😄🥰

🌲 Forest School🌲

Our Little Hedgehogs have been enjoying their time in the forest this week! 🌿

Babies don't need to have lots going on to benefit from a forest school session. Just being outside has a great impact on the development of vision, hearing and touch. A sensory-rich environment with many textures, temperatures, colours, smells and sounds, engages all of their senses- even tiny infants! 👶🏻

There are also natural physical support opportunities, e.g. sitting between logs, which helps them to concentrate on other activities, rather than the sitting itself- not to mention the space to crawl, run and roll around 🥰

We enjoyed a young visitor hopping past our windows this morning - I think it stopped to admire our lovely bee orchids .

☎️ “Hello, this is Little Owls, how may I help you?” ☎️

Today our Little Owls have been working hard in their office! They put on their ‘headsets’, answered the phones, and typed away on their laptops.

This simple, (and extremely adorable!) activity promotes many skills;

- social skills are developed through playing alongside their peers
- they are building on their imaginative skills and representational play
- communication and language is promoted through ‘answering the phone’, and having conversations with each other
- they are developing number recognition and also letter recognition
- pushing the small keys and buttons is working on their fine motor skills, and hand-eye coordination
- and they are showing an understanding of their world, including the ways in which people live.

☀️ Fun in the sun! ☀️

We’ve made the most of the sunshine this week!
We’ve been paddling in water to keep cool, planting flowers in the sensory garden, decorating the outdoor space, making fruit ice lollies… and Owls even turned their room into the seaside! They had sand & water, an ice cream stall and a fish and chip stall! ☀️🍦🐟

👗👖 Owls fashion show 👖👗

Our Little Owls showed us how independent they are, when dressing themselves for a fashion show!

They dressed themselves in ‘seasonal’ attire, showing us what they would wear for different weather and different occasions.

Future models right here ladies and gentlemen! 🥰😂

Happy Birthday Sir David Attenborough!
There was a lot of discussion about David Attenborough in Little Owls today. Some made birthday cards, others were inspired by his environmental campaigning and decided to make habitats for all the animals that need looking after in Little Owls.
They separated the animals into those that live in the water, fierce animals, farm animals, animals who live in caves and even made a vets for the poorly animals!
Amazing teamwork and some fantastic creativity from our pre-schoolers. 🥰
